The PT-19 series landing gear uses oleo strut construction. Essentially hydraulic pistons that gravity extends after takeoff that absorb the landing loads by forcing fluid through small orifices. Once on the ground large internal springs function as the suspension. After 80 years these spring are either worn out, having lost their pep, or broken. We have one of each! Our PT looks like we left her parked in a bad neighborhood over night!

P&W 4360 28 cylinder Radial engine.

It’s a monster. It’s going to be a cool restoration project.
