Happy Friday! Time for the Weekly Wrap-Up:

Students from Waukesha North and South came to Ravensholme Farm Preserve to plant native prairie plants from The Xerces Society mulch around fruit and nut producing trees in our agroforestry field, and learn about follow up land management after brush removal. Hosting school field trips is one of our favorite things to do at Tall Pines. The land and water protection we do is forever, making education for future generations key to a sustainable future.

Last Thursday, Tall Pines Conservancy teamed up with Oconomowoc Watershed Protection Program for May's edition of Third Thursdays. The guided creek tour offered a behind-the-scenes look at how caring for small stretches of stream can create big benefits for the entire watershed. Stop one was at Mason Creek, where attendees learned about a unique restoration project that has improved water quality and habitat by returning the stream back to its original course. Other stops showcased how removing invasive plants and replacing them with native vegetation has helped stabilized local waterways.

Be sure to check out and register for future Third Thursday and other events here:

Where are our mountain biking and hiking enthusiasts at?!

In today’s Weekly Wrap-Up, we are unveiling our brand new draft design for trails at our K. Redmond Family Preserve! The donors of this property wanted others to have access to and share their love for the Mid-Kettle Moraine area, which is why we are planning to create a sustainable trail system on the property while keeping conservation as our first priority.

Behind the scenes, Tall Pines has been working closely with dedicated and enthusiastic partners who are helping to make the mountain biking and hiking trails a reality. We’ve partnered with Metro Mountain Bikers and Southern Kettles Off Road Riders because of their knowledge of sustainable trail building, the need for mountain biking trails in this part of southeastern Wisconsin, and for the unique opportunity to to combine recreational use with land stewardship. Additionally, we’ve partnered with the Ice Age Trail Alliance to create a spur trail off of the IAT onto our property which will highlight the unique terrain of this area.

We couldn’t be more excited to get started on these trails, but doing so takes funding. Join us on our journey to create an awesome, sustainable trail system by visiting the K. Redmond Family Preserve page on our website and donating to the trail building efforts. Show your support today - the trails are calling!

Please note: this property is currently not open to the public as we are still in the planning phase for the trail system and stewardship work. Stay tuned for more info on our conservation efforts at this preserve and ways you can get involved!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the inaugural Conservation Chase Run/Walk at Lapham Peak on Saturday!! From our participants, volunteers, partner organizations, to Silver Circle Sports Events, LLC, everyone made it a fun and special day. We even had an appearance from the bear mascot to honor the legacy of the former run/walk that took place the same weekend, the Bear Trax and Brownie Shuffle!

We also used this event to highlight the K. Redmond Family Preserve, located adjacent to Lapham Peak. The Redmond Family and the Bugbee Family generously donated this preserve to Tall Pines Conservancy last year out of a profound love for the property, a desire to see it protected, and a wish for others to share their love of this special place. We were honored to have Kay Redmond herself provide opening remarks before the start of the race!

Many folks at this event were new to Tall Pines, and we want to welcome you to our community! For all new and familiar faces, stay tuned for more info on the K. Redmond Family Preserve.

Help Shape the Future of Conservation by taking our survey!

This spring, Tall Pines Conservancy is entering a season of important opportunity. Demand for land protection continues to grow, even as public funding becomes less certain. As we prepare for the work ahead, we want to hear from you.

Your perspective will help guide our priorities, advocacy efforts, and community engagement in the years to come. Completing the survey will also enter you into a drawing to win two tickets to Bus to the Barns - a tour of TPC partner farms - on Saturday, August 8th.

Thank you for taking a few minutes to share your voice!
