Upper Delaware Writers Collective The Upper Delaware Writers Collective (UDWC) was founded in 1993 as a charity organization.

Based in Sullivan County, NY, it also has members and activities in Wayne and Pike counties in PA and Orange County, NY. The Collective provides area poets with a monthly workshop led by Mary Greene (MFA, Brooklyn College) and opportunities to present work at public venues as well as publication.

Maybe he's right. Maybe not....
Bob Dylan: "Sometimes. It’s within me. It’s within me to put myself up and be a poet. But it’s a dedication. [Softly] It’s a big dedication.
[Pause] Poets don’t drive cars. [Laughs] Poets don’t go to the supermarket. Poets don’t empty the garbage. Poets aren’t on the PTA. Poets, you know, they don’t go picket the Better Housing Bureau, or whatever. Poets don’t… poets don’t even speak on the telephone. Poets don’t even talk to anybody. Poets do a lot of listening and … and usually they know why they’re poets! [Laughs]
Poets live on the land. They behave in a gentlemanly way. And live by their own gentlemanly code.
[Pause] And die broke. Or drown in lakes. Poets usually have very unhappy endings…"

READERS, WRITERS, ASPIRING WRITERS, NEIGHBORS: On Saturday, February 8th, 12 noon - 5 PM, the Hawley Silk Mill hosts the FIRST ANNUAL AUTHORS FESTIVAL. Many of our area authors, involved in a wide variety of writing - for adults, for children, prose, poetry, fact ,fiction, newspaper and magazine articles, professional reports teaching materials, and more - will be on hand not just to sign books but also to answer whatever questions you may have not just about their writing but also about your writing. And if you've something to share, OPEN MIC for you and for readings from the authors from 1:30 - 2:00 and 3:30 - 4:00.

River Rocks Anthology, published to commemorate the Upper Delaware Writers Collective twentieth anniversary, presents poems from 24 members, past and present. The anthology also includes photographs of members and writing prompts, some of which engendered the poems.
