The Wayne County (PA) Historical Society will celebrate historic preservation at a free event Saturday at the D&H Canal Park at Lock 31.

🏆 2026 HISTORIC PRESERVATION AWARD RECIPIENTS

The Wayne County Historical Society is pleased to recognize Brad Miehle and Paul Janusz for their exceptional craftsmanship and restoration of the circa-1820 Daniels Farmhouse at D&H Canal Park at Lock 31.

Through their knowledge, artistry, and dedication, Brad and Paul carefully recreated missing architectural features using details found elsewhere in the farmhouse and in similar historic structures.

Their commitment to authenticity included the use of original materials whenever possible and the careful preservation of historic elements, including basement masonry, interior walls, and doors. Their skilled work has helped preserve the character and craftsmanship of this remarkable 200-year-old farmhouse for future generations.

Engage with craft makers, storytellers and artists, browse exhibits and artifacts, and participate in these optional workshops throughout the Oct. 17, 12-6 p.m. Indigenous Peoples' Day of Celebration in partnership with the Lenape People, hosted by the Callicoon Depot:
1 p.m. - Language lesson to introduce basic greetings and phrases from the Unami dialect
2 p.m. - Storytelling Session
3 p.m. - Native Allyships and Land Acknowledgements
4 p.m. - Storytelling Session
4:30 p.m. - Two Spirit Traditions, a discussion about LGBTQIA+ history from the Native lens.

As part of their ongoing 50th anniversary celebration, the Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will present a new production of "Our Town" directed by Greg Triggs with many familiar faces in the cast. Four performances are set at the Tusten Theatre: Oct. 16, 17, and 23 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 24 at 2:30 p.m. Local residents previously starred in "Our Town" in 1976, performing it at the Park Theatre in Narrowsburg and the Western Inn Harmony Hall in Callicoon. Advance tickets are recommended through https://delawarevalleyartsalliance.org. Youth 12 and under are free to attend!

Celebrating the success of the Upper Delaware Scenic Byway!

Upper Delaware Scenic Byway officers, Vice-Chair Teresa Spradling (City of Port Jervis), Chairperson Rosie DeCristofaro (Town of Delaware), and Secretary-Treasurer Larry H. Richardson (Town of Cochecton) display the 2026 Partnership Award (at right) presented by the National Scenic Byway Association to recognize the 2025 Upper Delaware Scavenger Hunt. The byway won this prestigious award for the second consecutive year after previously earning kudos for the Upper Delaware Shadfest.

The Narrowsburg Chamber of Commerce's free Logging Day on Saturday will feature 12 competitive Dark Horse Lumberjack Show events throughout the day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. as well as a beard & mustache contest, a baking contest, kids' activity area, live music, a vendor market, and educational lectures on forests and wood. 🪵
