Stone Soup and Food Drive Event is a HUGE Hit!!!

No meeting in February
Next meeting Monday, March 2, 2026 at 1 pm

Many come out of the cold for Stone Soup and Food Drive
Wow, what a turnout for the Stone Soup Event and Food Drive! We served over 250 bowls of delicious soup generously provided by local restaurants. We raised nearly $600 and many, many pounds of food and items for St. Peter's By-the-Sea food pantry. We had nearly 50 children and adults listen to the reading of Stone Soup by Fire Chief Scott Partington. Then everyone enjoyed the delicious hot soup and bread served by volunteers from the Friends. We had such a great turnout that we ran out of soup before we could even sell it! But there was such a powerful community spirit in the air that everyone stayed and chatted.

The following restaurants donated the soup while Stop and Shop and Shaws donated gift cards for supplies, and Panera Bread donated their delicious bread. Please be sure to patronize these establishments and thank them for their amazing support and generosity!
Arturo Joes
Belmont Market
Celeste
Coast Guard House
Gansett Wraps
George's of Galilee
Greenhouse
Iggy's Doughboys & Chowder
Mariner Grille
New Dragon
Twin Willows

A great big thank you to Chief Partington and his team of firefighters for entertaining the children and to the many volunteers from the Friends and St. Peter's who came together to make this event so special for our community.

Please remember that the Food Drive for St. Peter's will continue throughout the months of February and March. Please see the list below for suggested items for donation to be dropped off at the library. While we are collecting food, book donations will be put on hold. But please hold onto your books as we will need them for the spring book sale!!
