This morning’s Coffee with a Councilor at Sprague Park was a great success with an outstanding turnout from residents across our community.

I truly appreciate everyone who took the time to stop by, enjoy a cup of coffee, and share their thoughts and ideas with Councilor Vignali and I. We had productive conversations about a variety of important topics, including our Town Beach, parking, recreational opportunities for families, and the improved transparency being provided by the Town and Town Council through our newly created Town Newsletter.

These informal gatherings are a valuable opportunity to hear directly from residents, learn what is working well, and identify areas where we can continue to improve. The feedback and engagement from the community are incredibly important as we work together to make Narragansett an even better place to live, work, and visit.

Thank you to everyone who attended. I look forward to continuing these conversations and hearing more of your ideas in the future.

This Narragansett Town Council is proud to be the first Town Council in Narragansett in years to take direct action on affordable housing. In partnership with the Affordable Housing Trust Collaborative, we have established an ongoing funding stream to support our goal of purchasing property and maintaining our affordable housing programs long-term. Check out this great article that highlights this achievement in this weeks South County Independent.

The Senate today passed a bill sponsored by Senator Alana DiMario, Rhode Island District 36 to make the Rhode Island teacher of the year and the chair of the student advisory council full voting members of the state’s Council on Elementary and Secondary Education.

“Students and educators have the firsthand experience and deep knowledge of our education system that are essential for making informed policy decisions. To ensure our kids get the education they deserve, their voices need to be recognized,” said Senator DiMario (D-Dist. 36, Narragansett, North Kingstown, New Shoreham). “Currently, no voting members of the Board of Education work or learn in a classroom every day. This bill will elevate the voices of a high-quality classroom teacher and a student leader to better inform our education policies and improve the decision-making process to better serve our students.”
