Funeral services for Scottie Miller will be held Sat at 10am in Amistad. There will be a meal to follow. The community ladies have stated that if you can bring a dessert they'd be greatful.

Thank you so much to the Nara Visa Community for your recent kindness after the passing of my mother, Jan Fort. From those who were able to attend her funeral and graveside service to those who provided food after the services, Mom's homecoming was perfect and a reminder of the beauty of small communities. I cannot thank you enough for the outpouring of love, concern, and support that the community provided during this difficult and sad time. The words thank you do not convey the depth of my appreciation to all of you, but truly, THANK YOU! ~Wendy Fort

UPDATE: her hernia ripped open while at work, they had her airlifted. The "doctors" in Amarillo decided it was an elective surgery and sent her home! So please pray for guidance and a quick solution to her needs. We all know how awful the medical system has gotten. Dear community, please say a prayer for one of our tireless community leaders, Beverly. She was airlifted to Amarillo with possible complications from a hernia. John thought she was headed straight to surgery. Big prayers needed.

Hello friends and neighbors, I know its been a minute, I apologize. Life is busy. An update is well over due at this point and you all deserve that. Since the wind storm in Sept the NVCC BOARD has been tirelessly meeting with the insurance company which has decided we were underinsurd so they fined us $50,000 and agree to pay just under $37,000. Of the several contractors we have spoken to this amount is about half of what is needed to put a shell back on the building! Not make it usable. With the almost 10inches of rain that has fallen since then we now have buckled floors and unsafe balconies, amongst other issues. The board has decided to put the money into the building it's most likely to be able to save the quickest for the community to still have a meeting place which is the gym building. With that hard decision being made the board also constructed a subcommittee to to raise money to save the red brick building! Which I pray everyone understands the NVCC BOARD IS COMPLETELY FOR! The unseen time and effort into that building by the few will never be know by many and the heartbreak they feel is only being punished by assumptions that are not warranted. WE ALL LOVE THE BUILDING AND THE HISTORY BEHIND IT. If you feel the need to help the subcommittee please contact Tommy Miller or Sandy Evans. If you find it in your hearts to donate to the SAVE the RED BRICK BUILDING FUND please make your checks payable to the Nara Visa Community Center and put red brick building in the memo please as it will be in its own line item.
