On Saturday, October 5, starting at 8 a.m., sand, empty sandbags, and some shovels will be available at three parks for those interested in obtaining sandbags. The sand is available at Big Corkscrew Island Regional Park, 810 39th Ave. NE, Naples, FL 34120, by the pickleball courts, at North Collier Regional Park, 15000 Livingston Road, Naples, FL 34109, in the Sun-N-Fun Lagoon parking lot and at Donna Fiala Eagle Lakes Community Park, 11565 Tamiami Trail East, Naples, FL 34113, in the grassy area between the parking lots.

Since shovels are limited, you may bring your own shovel and/or trowel. There is a limit of 10 bags per person. Once the 10,000 sandbags and 180 tons of sand (60 tons at each of the three park locations listed above) are gone, the program will end.

The sandbag service will be available from 8 a.m. to dusk through Sunday, October 6, supplies and weather permitting.

Sandbags, when properly filled and placed, may divert water around instead of through buildings. Sandbag construction does not guarantee a watertight seal but is satisfactory for use in most situations. Burlap sacks and plastic sandbags (polypropylene) are standard types to use. Garbage bags are not recommended since they are too slick to stack.

For additional information on sand and sandbag availability or sandbag assistance for those with special needs, please contact the Collier County Road, Bridge & Stormwater Maintenance Division at (239) 252-8924.

Has the kitty chronicles returned.... TBD.

Ember is 1 year. Time.flys. the others are 1.5, 5 months and 4 months.

Ember is a great loving cat. So sweet loves out doors. Came to agreement of no more bunnies or no outdoors.

Miss Kitty is more Atypical cat. Loves love but only when she want it. Otherwise leave me be.

Luna will probably be the biggest at 5 months almost biggest already her paws are huge. Love kisses. Right in mouth or nose of not paying attention.

Socks has FIV and so tiny but getting bigger every day and healthier. He holds his own when they play to rough but sometimes we or Miss Kitty steps in like hey now...

Then Tebow. Ember acts more like a dog then he does. But mimicks his behavior to go out, sit for a treat or other dog like tricks. Very smart cat.

Dear Osceola Elementary Parents and Staff,

Out of an abundance of caution, OES has gone into a Secure the Campus. This is a result of police activity in the area, and we will provide additional updates. We are continuing the school day with normal procedures.

Thank you,

Diana Little, Principal

A friendly reminder.
Florida school buses carry precious cargo – our children. Motorists should always be alert and drive with caution around school buses and in school zones where children may be present like schools, bus stops, school buses and school parking lots. Parents should also go over safety tips with their children to make sure they are safe on and around school buses and school zones.

Pay extra attention to the lower speed limits in school zones – and obey them!

Watch for and obey signals from school crossing guards.

Only drive or park in authorized areas to drop off or pick up children at school.
