ONE MONTH LEFT!
Have you taken the NEW Safeguarding Youth Training yet?
Make sure you've taken it before Sunday, May 31, 2026, as that is when Youth Protection Training EXPIRES!
Youth Protection Training (YPT) has been replaced by the new Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). This training is required for all Scouting America registered volunteers and is a joining requirement.
Here are some updates regarding the new training:
➡️ The new 20-minute Safeguarding Youth (SYT) Refresher course is Live.
➡️ If you have not taken the NEW SYT full 90 Minute course, you must take that first before you can take the refresher to get full SYT credit.
➡️ If your SYT is expired for 7 days or more, you must take the full 90 minute course again.
➡️ If you fail the course quiz on the refresher course with less than an 80% on your first attempt, you will be directed back to the full 90 minute course.
➡️ The course is available in the Volunteer Learn Center in English and Spanish.

Starting this month, we will be highlighting one of the Scout Laws and what it means to us. For April, we will be focusing on Clean. Remember, a little cleaning as you go will help the mess at the end be more manageable!

The National Weather Service predicts that overnight temperatures in will drop to 40°F or lower tonight, this weekend, and early next week. To assist those in need, the following locations will serve as warming shelters:

Naples:

Those who plan to use the warming shelter should make efforts to bring their own bedding, food, medications, toiletries, water, and anything else they need to be comfortable.

As a reminder, cold-weather safety rules include:

Protect People 🫂: Pay careful attention to children and the elderly. They are especially vulnerable to the cold and the least able to protect themselves. Dress in layers and wear a hat that covers your ears when outdoors.

Protect Pets🐶 🐱: Bring pets indoors. Pets that must be left outside should have an enclosed shelter with the entrance facing away from the wind.

Protect Against Fires in the Home🔥: Take the time to prepare and inspect heating equipment before using it. According to the National Fire Protection Association, incorrect use of heating equipment is the leading cause of home fires.

Gone Home, But Never Forgotten 🕯️

Today, on the death anniversary of Lord Robert Baden-Powell, we pause to honor the man who started a global movement of peace and service.

​On January 8, 1941, B-P passed away in Nyeri, Kenya, leaving behind a legacy that has shaped the lives of millions of young people across the globe. He didn't just teach us how to tie knots or camp; he taught us the values of citizenship, chivalry, and how to be self-reliant. ​From Brownsea Island to a worldwide brotherhood and sisterhood, his vision created a path for youth to become leaders of tomorrow. We are forever grateful for his wisdom and foresight.

​His final message to us remains our greatest compass: "Try and leave this world a little better than you found it."

​As we remember him today, let us renew our promise to do our best, to do our duty to God and our country, to help other people, and to keep the Scout Law.
