What is a carnal Christian vs a Spirit-led Christian?
A Spirit-led Christian will exhibit the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). A Spirit-led Christian will not remain carnal; they will grow and mature because of God’s work in their life (Hebrew 12:5-11, Romans 12:1, Ephesians 2:8-10, James 2).

A carnal Christian is not willing to “present his/her body as a living sacrifice pleasing and acceptable to the Father” (Romans 12:2). The degree of submission to God’s work in a person’s life is indicated by the degree to which they live in the “satisfying the cravings of your sinful nature” (Ephesians 2:3, 1 John 2:16, Galatians 5:19-20, Romans 1:21-28).

The carnal Christian lives in the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the boastful pride of life that is from the world (1 John 2:15-17). As this world passes away, Scripture says some will leave the body of Christ so that it might be shown that not everyone who seems to be a Christian is actually a Christian (1 John 2:18-19). At this time, the sheep, who know the voice of Jesus (John 10:25-30), will be separated from the goats (Matthew 25:31-46). If the Carnal Christian is truly saved, they are assured that they will not perish (1 Corinthians 3:10-15, John 3:16).

Passage is found in Psalms 139:23-24.
It is good for us as Christians to have a time of honest introspection -- & to evaluate our walk with the Lord.
This passage should lead to introspection; -- self-analysis -- & soul searching.
“Search me, O God and know my heart;
Try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.”
-- Psalms 139:23-24

Would you make this prayer of David -- your very own prayer today?

Here is a prayer that comes from the true servant of God.
It comes from a heart that is sincere!
You cannot truly pray this prayer without being sincere.

Message from Pastor Rick Warren

Have you ever noticed that if you sow criticism, you always reap criticism? If you sow kindness, you reap kindness. If you sow generosity, you reap generosity. If you sow energy, you reap energy. This is called the principle of sowing and reaping.

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:6-8 NIV).

Pray for It Before You Pay for It
By Rick Warren — November 4, 2019

Devotional

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy” (John 16:24 NCV).

Are you in financial need and waiting for God to help?

God has promised to meet your financial needs. He’s just waiting for you to ask for his help! The Lord never shuts his storehouse until you shut your mouth.

One of the reasons we see so few miracles in our lives is because we just don’t ask for them. Instead of living a life based on Christ, we live a life based on credit. When we have something we need, instead of stopping and asking God for it, before we even think about asking God for it, we just use that credit card. We trust credit instead of Christ.

If you want to see God work in your life, pray for it before you pay for it. Do you pray about major purchases before you make them? Or do you just take care of it with your credit card? Every time you use that credit card before praying about it, you’re short-circuiting a possible miracle in your life. Before you charge a purchase, why don’t you ask God about it first?

God is not going to give you everything you pray for, but there are some things he does want to give you just to do a miracle in your life. Many people have never had a financial answer to prayer because they’ve never prayed specifically.

“Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy will be the fullest possible joy” (John 16:24 NCV). Do you know why God wants you to learn to ask for things in prayer? So he can give them, and so you’ll be full of joy. God is a loving Father. He’s not some ogre sitting in the sky, waiting to make your life a bummer. He wants to bless your life! You just have to ask.

Talk About It

How do your spending habits and your prayer life intersect?
What is your family’s policy when it comes to making large purchases?
What are some ways your life reflects how deeply you trust God with your finances?

Thoughts on Today's Verse...

In a time when God's people were in shambles physically and spiritually, he promises judgment — judgment on them and their oppressors. But he also reveals why. He will show his greatness and holiness so they will know him, YAHWEH — God of "his people" and also of all nations. I would love for God to show his greatness and holiness in our day; wouldn't you? To have God honored for who he is and what he has done would be marvelous. May that day come quickly.
My Prayer...

Father, as your flawed and mortal child, I do fear your bold revelation of yourself. We humans are mortal and frail in comparison to your blazing glory. But I have confidence in my relationship with you through Jesus, and dear Father, I want you honored and your name revered in my day. I am tired of hearing your name used in vain and your glory profaned. Exalt yourself before the nations! Reveal your holy majesty so that everyone will know that you are the only true and living God! In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
