Portraits Unplugged: Finding the Beauty in Natural Light with
Bobbi Lane, Sponsored by Fuji Film

Any time of day can work for flattering or effective environmental portraits provided you learn to “see” the light/shadow.  The “Big Three” – direction, quality and depth of light are the key to describing your subject and setting the mood. We work with window light, backlight, open shade and garage door lighting. Reflectors and diffusers provide a tremendous amount of control in manipulating the light.
We will start with an instructional image presentation that covers the “rules” of Portraits Unplugged and various lighting situations for creative imaging. We will then go outside for demos with reflectors and diffusers and then photographed models on location. This presentation and shooting class will help create a higher level of quality for your subjects!
Where to Meet: Cohen Student Union, See the Conference Program for the Room Number
What to Bring:
• If you have a reflector, please bring it.
• A medium telephoto lens is great for portraits. That would be 85mm to 135mm on a full frame camera, or 56mm to 90mm on a crop sensor.
Cost: $69

Then don’t miss Ray Hennessey!

About Ray Hennessey, sponsored by

Starting in 2007 his fascination with nature photography began. In the years since wildlife photography with a focus on birds has gone from a very passionate hobby of his to become his career. He spends much of his free time in natural areas searching for birds and any other wildlife that comes along. Ray concentrates on using creative natural lighting and interesting compositions to capture unique images of common and rare wildlife. His favorite style is a more scenic photo that includes some of the habitat wildlife lives in. He also enjoys passing along the knowledge and experience that he has gathered over the years to other photographers who are eager to learn.
