MP&R Committee Supports Technology Enhancements to Improve Member Experience
The Member Policies & Relations (MP&R) Committee has championed a multi-year effort to modernize Foundation processes, improve member services, and create a more member- and family-centric experience through the thoughtful and fiscally responsible use of technology.
A key component of this initiative has been ensuring the accuracy and integrity of member records. The Member Services team has worked diligently to review, update, and maintain member information, creating a stronger foundation for communication, access to amenities, and future planning. Accurate member records also played a critical role in recent election readiness efforts, supporting voter outreach, electronic voting initiatives, and the overall integrity of the election process.
By leveraging technology, the Foundation has introduced new tools that make it easier for members and their families to engage with Foundation services. Members can update their profile information online, submit electronic consent for communications and voting, receive important text message alerts, and utilize digital membership cards, which are currently available through the Pelican Bay mobile app. The Foundation is also working to expand digital options for guests and family members, with the goal of making access to amenities more convenient while maintaining appropriate security controls.
These improvements are designed to provide greater convenience while ensuring secure access to amenities and services. At the same time, the Foundation remains committed to accessibility, recognizing that not all members prefer digital solutions. Alternative options, such as physical member cards, should remain available so that all members can easily obtain membership credentials, guest passes, and access to Foundation amenities.
Looking ahead, the Foundation is exploring emerging technologies, including facial recognition systems, that could further simplify access to amenities. Such solutions may one day allow members and guests to access facilities without carrying physical membership or guest cards, while maintaining appropriate security and privacy safeguards.
The Committee believes that accurate data and modern technology are essential tools for continuous improvement. Better member information enables the Foundation to understand how amenities are used, identify opportunities to enhance services, adjust guest policies, and make more informed decisions about future investments in facilities and programs.
Through these ongoing efforts, MP&R is helping position the Foundation to better serve current and future generations of members by creating a more convenient, connected, and family-focused Pelican Bay experience.
