Picking the biggest pumpkin in the patch is the kind of ordinary fall afternoon a family should get to have. No planning around it. No sitting it out.

There is only one organization in Southwest Florida doing this specific job.

Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is the only organization in the region dedicated exclusively to consistently providing period products to women and girls in need. Not as a side program. Not once a year during a drive. Consistently, as the whole point.

That work runs through 40 nonprofit partner agencies and more than 200 distribution locations across Lee and Collier County. Schools, food pantries, shelters, and community programs that already have trust with the people walking through their doors.

It is a quiet kind of infrastructure. It only works because the community keeps it stocked.

Some days only happen because someone planned ahead.

A girl walks into school and takes the test. A woman clocks in and works the shift she was scheduled for. Nothing about either day looks remarkable, and that is exactly the point. The day was never interrupted, so nobody had to notice it.

That is what a stocked shelf does. When period supplies are already sitting where someone can reach them, the day stays ordinary. No scrambling, no staying home, no quiet decision to skip something that mattered.

Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL is stepping into a new chapter.

Ellen Hoffman has been appointed President of the organization. Ellen joined the Board of Directors in June 2025 and brings decades of legal and nonprofit leadership to the role, along with a personal commitment to ending period poverty that started well before she came to Southwest Florida.

She steps into a role built by Dusti Beaubien, who founded Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL in January 2019 and served as its President from the very beginning. Dusti now becomes Founder and President Emeritus. She stays on the Board of Directors and stays one of the loudest voices for the women and girls this mission serves.

Mary Kiely joins the Executive Committee as Treasurer-Elect, working alongside current Treasurer Liz Winebrenner through the transition.

Same mission. Same community. A new chapter.

The need starts younger than most people assume. 🎗️

Beth Wipf, Health Services Director for Collier County Public Schools, has said plainly that free period products should be available in schools, including at the elementary level. It is not a middle school or high school issue only. Kids develop on their own timelines, and elementary nurses see that reality up close.

Missing several days each month over something preventable can add up to nearly 20% of a school year lost. Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL works alongside Lee and Collier County schools to make sure no student, at any age, has to choose between staying home and having what they need. 🍎
