Some of the most powerful transformation starts with one simple question: Who am I, really?

We're thrilled to welcome back Alycia Johnson to The SonRise Project. Alycia is a wife, a mother of two, and a gifted teacher of journaling for personal growth. She speaks with a rare mix of honesty and heart. She openly shares her own imperfect journey, including the mistakes, the missteps, and the healing.

Through it all she found a deep relationship with God that restored her marriage, led her back to finish her degree after 20 years, and taught her to listen for His voice daily. Her message is that nothing is wasted, and that your story, even the messy chapters, is part of your purpose.

Alycia will talk about why self-awareness is the foundation of a purposeful life, and how a pen and a quiet moment can help you hear what's been within you all along.

The invitation: the 30-Day Journaling Challenge, starting October 26th. Alycia will walk us through how her challenge works, what to expect, and how a daily writing practice can bring clarity, healing, and direction.

This Sunday, October 11th, at 9:00 AM EST, Kelli welcomes back Cherise Mattheson.

When your child is navigating a mental health crisis or addiction journey, "self-care" can feel like an impossible luxury. It can also be a source of guilt.

Holding space for your child in distress requires a steady, grounded foundation. On this World Mental Health Day edition, Cherise Mattheson, LMSW, guides us beyond traditional self-care into practical, trauma-informed survival strategies for parents/caregivers under chronic stress.

ADHD can look very different depending on where a person is and what is being demanded of them. And for many people—particularly adults who learned how to compensate or mask—it may not be recognized until much later in life. It could be at school, at home, at work, and even i relationships.

And then there’s the late-diagnosis challenge, as seen recently in "Different World" episode with the main character.

Many of us aren't diagnosed until adulthood and spend decades believing we are lazy, scattered, irresponsible, “too much,” or simply bad at things that seem easy for everyone else.

Sunday, September 27th, Candace Washington is back on SonRise, and this time she's bringing a message that lives at the intersection of two choices she makes every single day: choosing self, and choosing sobriety.

As a licensed therapist, Candace has spent her career helping others do the deep work of healing. But she's also lived it — walking her own road to sobriety and coming out the other side not just recovered, but genuinely thriving. In this conversation, she'll get honest about what it really means to choose yourself first, why that choice and sobriety are so tightly connected, and how she holds both her professional expertise and her personal story with the same amount of grace.

This episode is for anyone who's ever had to choose themselves in a season when it felt selfish, scary, or unfamiliar — and for anyone walking their own sobriety journey who needs to hear from someone who's not just theorizing about recovery, but living it well. Candace shows us that sobriety isn't the end of the story; it can be the beginning of the fullest version of yourself.

Sunday, September 20th, Lisa McClendon is back on SonRise, and this time she's opening up about one of the darkest seasons of her life.

In this conversation, Lisa shares her journey through betrayal, heartbreak, and divorce — not as a polished, distant memory, but as a real and honest testimony of what it took to survive it and come out the other side whole. She'll walk us through the lessons she learned in the wreckage, how she found her way back to hope, and what it actually looked like to rebuild restoration and purpose after some of life's deepest wounds.

This isn't a conversation about pretending the pain wasn't real. It's about what's possible after it. If you've ever wondered whether healing is truly possible after devastating loss — whether trust can be rebuilt, whether joy can return, whether there's a version of your life on the other side of heartbreak that's even better than before — Lisa's story is proof that the answer is yes.

Come ready to be moved, encouraged, and reminded that your story isn't over.
