Hi everyone! I wanted to post a quick note about attaching patches.
Iāve been using Badge Magic and knockoff brands to attach patches to uniforms and the red vest, and Iāve never had great luck with it. I wanted to start my daughterās red vest fresh, so I set out to find something that works better and keeps the patches where I put them!
I may be the last to know, but I wanted to share this in case it helps someone, especially our brand new Scout families. This isnāt something you can do an hour before a meeting, but if you have some time before the next event, you should consider giving this a try.
I ordered this fabric glue from Amazon, and followed the application recommendations from some of the reviews, and so far, Iām thrilled!
FIRST, I make sure to place WAX PAPER behind the fabric where the patch(es) will sit, because it the glue WILL soak through, so if you miss this step, you will likely be very unhappy and you ruin your garment. When I know Iām ready, I apply the glue to the entire back of the patch, stick it where I want it to go, and then remove it almost immediately. That way, Iāve added glue in the same shape to the garment itself. Then, I reapply glue to to the patch, and let it sit for about a minute so that the glue on the patch and the glue in the garment BOTH get tacky so they will be more likely to stick to each other. After the minute is up, I place the patch back in its spot, clean up any excess glue from the edges with a baby wipe or damp paper towel, and then carefully put something heavy on top of the patch. I let it sit for at least 6 hours before moving it, and I am very careful for about 24 hours because the glue can stay damp for quite some time, and I donāt want it touching anything it shouldnāt or for the garment to stick to itself.
Iāve been THRILLED with our results⦠The patches seems so much sturdier and likely to stay put!
Please note that I ordered the 4oz bottle and used the last drop on the very last patch, so if you have a lot to glue, you might want to order two. Iāve already replenished my supply.
Iāll paste a link. I hope this helps someone!
