What an incredible evening of community, connection, and storytelling! Thank you to everyone who joined Keeping It Reel presents: See It Through My Eyes Film Screening created by 11th grader Maya Meschi.

Films have a unique power to help us step outside our own experiences and see the world through someone else’s eyes. They invite us to listen, learn, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of the many lived experiences that make up our community.

Maya’s film also reminds us of the power of immigrant female voices, which carry stories of courage, identity, family, belonging, and the experience of finding your place while honoring where you came from.

Thank you to the City of Naperville, Illinois, Government SECA Fund, North Central College, ALMAS - Alliance of Latinos Motivating Action in the Suburbs and Beautifully Empowhered for partnering with us.

A Few Things to Know
Location: Heininger Auditorium — Larrance Academic Center, North Central College

Doors Open: 5:45 p.m.
Program Begins: Promptly at 6:00 p.m.

Seating: Open seating
Program Ends: By 8:00 p.m.

The evening will feature the screening of See It Through My Eyes, followed by a panel discussion. A light reception will follow the program.

This documentary explores how immigration has shaped the lives of women in the United States through the experiences of first- and second-generation immigrants. Through personal interviews, historical research, and expert perspectives, the film examines their journeys before and after immigration, including the challenges, opportunities, and questions of identity, family, culture, and belonging.
