Amplifying Student Voices Through Publishing

En Español Press partnered with Brookdale Elementary’s 4th Grade Bookworm Book Club to help students become published authors.

Students transformed original stories, poems, artwork, and short fiction into professionally published books, with our team supporting editing, publishing, and distribution.

Through En Español Press, we aim to change that by expanding access to authorship and helping young students see their voices as meaningful contributions to their community.

Proud to support the next generation of storytellers, artists, and leaders.



En Español Press se asoció con el Club de Lectura Bookworm de 4.º grado de Brookdale Elementary para ayudar a los estudiantes a convertirse en autores publicados.

Los estudiantes transformaron historias originales, poemas, obras de arte y cuentos cortos en libros publicados profesionalmente, con el apoyo de nuestro equipo en la edición, publicación y distribución.

A través de En Español Press, buscamos cambiar eso ampliando el acceso a la autoría y ayudando a los estudiantes a ver sus voces como contribuciones significativas a su comunidad.

🎓🚀 Expanding Horizons at UIUC

This week, we brought 10 CYLA student leaders to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign for a day of STEM exploration, leadership development, and college exposure.

Students visited the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), participated in quantum physics activities, explored virtual reality technologies, and connected with researchers and educators across campus.

For many students, this was their first opportunity to experience a major research university firsthand.

At En Español, we believe talent exists everywhere, but opportunity is not always equally accessible. Experiences like these help students see higher education, STEM careers, and leadership pathways as possibilities within their reach.

✨ Sometimes a single experience can change how a young person sees their future.



🎓🚀 Expandiendo horizontes en UIUC

Esta semana, llevamos a 10 líderes estudiantiles de CYLA a la Universidad de Illinois Urbana-Champaign para un día de exploración STEM, desarrollo de liderazgo y exposición universitaria.

Los estudiantes visitaron el National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), participaron en actividades de física cuántica, exploraron tecnologías de realidad virtual y se conectaron con investigadores y educadores en el campus.

Para muchos estudiantes, esta fue su primera oportunidad de experimentar de cerca una gran universidad de investigación.

En En Español, creemos que el talento existe en todas partes, pero las oportunidades no siempre son igualmente accesibles. Experiencias como esta ayudan a los estudiantes a ver la educación superior, las carreras STEM y los caminos de liderazgo como posibilidades que están a su alcance.

We are proud to celebrate our founder, Tai Nghiem, for being awarded the 2026 Princeton Prize in Race Relations.

Through En Español, Tai has helped reach 550+ students, deliver 1,500+ hours of bilingual education, STEAM learning, and civic leadership training, and lead initiatives like Books Without Borders, CYLA, and Joy in a Box.

Nos enorgullece celebrar a nuestro fundador, Tai Nghiem, por haber recibido el Princeton Prize in Race Relations 2026.

A través de En Español, Tai ha ayudado a impactar a más de 550 estudiantes, ofrecer más de 1,500 horas de educación bilingüe, aprendizaje STEAM y formación en liderazgo cívico, además de liderar iniciativas como Books Without Borders, CYLA y Joy in a Box.

Al reflexionar sobre la misión detrás de En Español, Tai escribió:

“Language was more than communication; from an early age, it created belonging.”

We are proud to announce a new partnership with Naperville School District 203’s Elmwood Elementary School and Naperville School District 204’s Brookdale Elementary School.
Through this collaboration, students are not just learning—they are leading.

As part of our Youth Leadership Initiative through CYLA, 3rd and 4th grade students are becoming published authors and illustrators—creating their own original storybooks and art books to share with their communities.

With over 30 participants, including student volunteers, this project is already bringing together a powerful community of young creators, leaders, and mentors.

This initiative transforms creativity into confidence and imagination into impact—empowering students to see their voices as meaningful and their stories as worthy of being shared with the world.

We are deeply grateful to Elmwood Elementary and Brookdale Elementary for this opportunity.

Nos enorgullece anunciar una nueva colaboración con Elmwood Elementary School del Distrito Escolar 203 de Naperville y Brookdale Elementary School del Distrito Escolar 204 de Naperville. A través de esta colaboración, los estudiantes no solo están aprendiendo, sino que también están liderando.

CYLA’s 10-week session has officially concluded.

In just 10 weeks, more than 70 young students engaged in hands-on learning experiences that transformed curiosity into confidence, and learning into leadership.

Through meaningful, interactive activities, students developed communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, responsibility, and public speaking—not as abstract ideas, but as skills practiced in real time.

Alaya showed focus, responsibility, and vision.

Theodore and Vladimir demonstrated collaboration, creativity, and adaptability.

Max reflected persistence and problem-solving.

Charlie and Sahir showed the power of teamwork and shared growth.

Skylar embodied trial-and-error learning, turning discovery into confidence.

Together, these students reflect the deeper purpose of CYLA: creating spaces where young people are empowered not only to learn, but to lead, contribute, and recognize their own ability to make an impact.

La sesión de 10 semanas de CYLA ha concluido oficialmente.

En solo 10 semanas, más de 70 jóvenes estudiantes participaron en experiencias prácticas de aprendizaje que transformaron la curiosidad en confianza y el aprendizaje en liderazgo.

A través de actividades significativas e interactivas, los estudiantes desarrollaron habilidades de comunicación, trabajo en equipo, adaptabilidad, resolución de problemas, responsabilidad y expresión oral, no como ideas abstractas, sino como destrezas practicadas en tiempo real.

Thank you so much to for honoring us with the 2026 Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes Grant Award. Founder Tai Nghiem was recently named a Hershey Heartwarming Young Hero, and received a grant to support En Español's programming across April 10th to May 10th, and on Global Youth Service Day (April 24th-26th). We are so grateful to be a Hershey grant recipient, and look forward to sharing what we do with this opportunity with you.
