8th Grade Moving On Ceremony

We are so excited to celebrate our 8th graders at the upcoming Moving On Ceremony this Thursday, May 21st at 12:30 PM!

To help ensure a smooth and memorable celebration, please review the important details below:

Tickets: Moving On tickets have already been mailed to your homes. As a reminder, each household receives exactly 2 tickets. Due to limited space and equity for all families, requests for extra tickets will not be granted. Thank you for your understanding.

Missing your tickets? If you have not received your tickets in the mail, please email Mrs. Cap immediately so they can be held for you at the office window.

Arrival & Parking: Doors will open at 12:00 PM. Parking around the campus is limited and fills up fast, so please plan ahead and arrive early.

Entry & Will Call: Everyone will enter through Door 1 and must have their 2 tickets ready.

Live Stream: Extended family and friends can watch the ceremony live from home! We will be streaming via YouTube at this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwDbKU_4lM0.

Dismissal: All 8th graders will be dismissed for the day immediately following the ceremony. We encourage you to take some time for pictures and celebration on campus before departing!

We look forward to seeing you Thursday to celebrate the wonderful achievements of our Lancer graduates!

We invite all LJHS families and alumni to join us for a special Retiree Victory Lap and Clap Out on Tuesday, May 19th at 2:30 PM, just outside the school by the main entrance (Door 1). The rain location will be inside the main entry way.

RSVP is needed— please join us if you’re able and help us give one final cheer to these amazing individuals in recognition of their years of dedication and service to our school.

🛳 8th Grade Boat Cruise – Important Information❗️

Dear 8th Grade Families,
We are looking forward to celebrating with our students during the annual Boat Cruise on Wednesday May 20th —a special end-of-year tradition our students always enjoy!

As we approach the big day, we want to share some pre-trip information with you. Please note that the Boat Cruise takes place rain or shine. There will be plenty of indoor space on the boat in case of inclement weather, but we’ve reminded students to dress appropriately for the conditions. Layers, light jackets, and comfortable shoes are strongly encouraged as needed.

✅ What to Bring:
Phone – Students may bring their phones, but charging access is limited.
Earphones/earbuds – Make sure they’re clearly labeled and kept secure.
Light jacket or sweater – Weather dependent.
Comfortable shoes – Students will be walking and standing.
Purse, clutch, or small drawstring bag – If needed.

❌ What NOT to Bring:
No backpacks or large bags.
No valuable items or anything you would be upset to have lost or damaged.
No money needed – All expenses are already covered!
No snacks or drinks – Purchases at Navy Pier are not allowed.
Do not post photos/videos of others without their permission.

If your child is not attending the Boat Cruise, we encourage you to make an alternate plan for that day. Students who remain at school will be housed in the office and expected to work independently on any academic work during the time their teachers and peers are away.

We can’t wait to celebrate with our 8th graders on this memorable day!
