Growing Old Should Never Mean Being Forgotten
There are days here in my little village of Rubuguri, Uganda, when my heart is so full of love for the people around me. And then there are days when it simply breaks.
One of the hardest things for me to see is our elderly struggling just to survive.
These are people who have spent their entire lives working hard, raising families, and doing whatever they could to get through each day. Now, in the years when they should be resting and being cared for, many are facing some of life's greatest challenges alone.
Some have no family to help them. Some can barely walk. Others struggle with illness, hunger, and living conditions that most of us cannot even imagine.
And yet, when our Angel Projects team arrives for a visit, the smiles on their faces say everything.
Sometimes it's not just the food, medicine, or supplies we bring. Sometimes it's simply knowing that someone cares enough to show up.
I cannot begin to tell you how proud I am of our Ugandan team. They visit our elderly neighbors throughout the week, checking on their health, bringing food, arranging medical care, and making sure their needs are met. But what touches me the most is the love and patience they show.
They don't just see someone who needs help. They see a grandmother, a grandfather, a neighbor, and a human being who deserves dignity and compassion.
Watching Nyirankoko's progress has been especially emotional. When we began helping her, she was struggling terribly with her health and mobility. Through better nutrition, medical care, and physical therapy, we have watched her slowly regain some of her strength.
Seeing her begin to walk again, even if only a few steps, reminds me why we do what we do.
But I also know that without continued support, so much of that progress can be lost.
And that is why I am asking for your help today.
Our Elderly Project isn't a one-time delivery of food or a single hospital visit. It's an ongoing commitment to people who depend on us.
There are medications to purchase, hospital trips to arrange, nutritious meals to provide, and homes that need repairs. There are elderly neighbors who simply need someone to check on them and remind them they matter.
And every one of those things costs money.
I wish I could do it all. I really do. But I can't, and neither can our wonderful team without your help.

I often think about how we all hope someone will be there for us when we grow old. Someone to make sure we've eaten, that we're warm, that we're healthy, and that we're not alone.
That is exactly what I want for our elderly here in Rubuguri.
We cannot change the hardships they have endured throughout their lives, but together, we can make the years they have left a little more comfortable, a little healthier, and filled with a lot more love.
