After 28 years in the Army Reserve and National Guard and a 30+ year career in economics and transportation, Army Veteran Dean Prestegaard launched his own consulting firm.

Through Veteran Business Project, Dean was matched with a mentor who helped him navigate the challenges of business ownership.

His advice to fellow veterans:

After serving multiple tours in Iraq with the U.S. Army, Justin Miller turned his military leadership and determination into a new mission: entrepreneurship.

With support from Veteran Business Project, Justin successfully acquired Home Fixers, using his skills in leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building to grow a veteran-owned business.

His advice for fellow veterans pursuing entrepreneurship:
“Get the hell after it! Don’t be afraid of hard work. Be prepared to put in the extra hours to build your dream.”

This week, we're proud to recognize Andy Hoch, a U.S. Air Force veteran and owner of the Chicago franchise of V.C. Veterans Contracting.
