Hello all! In light of recent events & a video of my friends and I’s encounter with a man and others who tore down hearts with “BLM” on them, my friends & I organized an event yesterday in Downtown Naperville and put up more hearts in support of Black Lives Matter. Yesterday, hundreds of people came out to spread messages of love and activism across Naperville. People of all ages brought their own hearts or made them there, and others generously brought us supplies. It was a turnout greater than anything we could’ve expected, and showed that for the one incident of hate we witnessed there is so much more love in Naperville. It also opened up an important dialogue about how to amplify poc voices within our predominantly white city. As a result of all of the love and support the event received, we created this page where people can post ideas and information about events that spread awareness and love through paper hearts. We’re looking into organizing similar events in surrounding towns and would love if anyone has any ideas or input! Again-thank you so very much to everyone who came and helped in yesterday’s events. When people stand up to injustice, it shows others they can make a change as well. We hope that this message of love can spread and do amazing things for the Black Lives Matter and the overall need for equality and justice in the world. Thank you all for the support!
