Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation

Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation For 45 yeears, the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation connected people to what matters most - each other, neighbor to neighbor.

In June of 2024 the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation cancelled its registration as a not for profit corporation in the State of Illinois. Prior to dissolution, the Board voted to donate the remaining funds in the treasury to NCTV17, The Power of Choice, and Loaves and Fishes, We thank everyone for their support through our 45 years serving Naperville's neighborhoods. The Naperville Area H

omeowners Confederation united local homeowners, tenant, and condominium associations into an umbrella organization that worked together, neighbor to neighbor and:
- Served as an advocate for and a voice of the people who call the Naperville area their home;
- Created an awareness of residents' needs by developing and maintaining relationships with all levels of government including national, state, city, counties, townships, and school and park districts;
- Supported member associations with their organizational and program needs - facilitating an interchange of ideas, resources, and information between and among individual homeowners associations;
- Built, through a cooperative effort, a community dedicated to the enhancement of our property; and
- Provided, through regular meetings, special events such as candidate and issue forums, our newsletter and this website, a medium for homeowner concerns and interests. Through this communication, networking, and neighbors-helping-neighbors, the Confederation was the vehicle through which we, as homeowners and residents, kept abreast of community affairs and generated a positive influence on our area.

In late May, an era in Naperville came to an end as the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation officially ceased to exist after serving the community for 45 years.

The Confederation last had a public open meeting in the pre-pandemic days of February, 2020 when we met to discuss development in Naperville, a topic dear to our heart and in keeping with why the organization was initially chartered in 1979. The next meeting, auspiciously scheduled for March 21, was an early victim of pandemic shutdowns. The uncertainty during the following months made it more and more difficult to not only develop a replacement for monthly face-to-face discussions over a cup of coffee, but to also maintain organizational momentum and purpose.

The monthly newsletter continued until May of 2023, and soon after it was posted the Confederation website went dark, severing another link to the community.

Organizational leadership, frankly, was getting old and even pre-COVID there wasn’t a significant influx of new members to do the heavy lifting associated with things like communications, meetings, and membership development. After a year of discussion with no path forward, the Board made the sad decision to dissolve the organization.

As its last effort to serve the community, the Board divided the funds in the treasury between three organizations, NCTV17, 360 Youth Services, and Loaves and Fishes. We felt all three met our long-time mission of serving Naperville, neighbor to neighbor.

Thanks to everyone who supported and served the organization over the years.

The City of Naperville's annual Arbor Day Tree Sale will take place online for a four-week period beginning March 18. The sale link will open on Monday, March 18 at 8 a.m. and will close on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m. or when all trees are sold, whichever comes first. A drive-thru tree pickup will take place on Saturday, April 20 at the Public Works Service Center, 180 Fort Hill Dr. from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Customers will be able to select from 31 different species of trees costing between $45 and $105 for use in beautifying their yards and sustaining the environment. A total of 400 trees are available for purchase, including various maples, oaks and elms.

How to Place a Tree Order

All orders must be placed online at www.naperville.il.us/arbordaytreesale. Residents can review tree details on the sale page and may purchase multiple trees, which are organized by price, through PayPal in one transaction. Once an online order is complete, shoppers will be directed to use an online calendar to schedule a time to pick up their tree(s) on Saturday, April 20 at the Public Works Service Center. Customers will be limited to six trees and pickup timeslots must be scheduled within 24-hours of purchase to avoid cancelation. For the safety of all, participants will be asked to stay in their vehicles while City staff members load the trees into vehicles during their pre-scheduled pickup timeslot. All tree sales are final, and trees must be picked up on April 20. Payment will be forfeited for trees that are not picked up on April 20 and no refunds will be given.

The annual Arbor Day Tree Sale lets residents and businesses choose from hundreds of container grown trees for sale to help beautify their property and benefit our environment.

Forty-five years ago, on March 1, 1979, the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation was chartered as a not for profit corporation in the State of Illinois.

Throughout the years, and with the help of many dedicated community members who selflessly shared their time and talents, one thing did not change- we were neighbors helping neighbors,focused on making Naperville a great place to call our home.

Unfortunately, today the Confederation is no longer a functioning part of the Naperville community. Sad commentary on a once vibrant organization.
