Lawsyn and I went to Mullinax Ford of Olympia yesterday to accept a VERY BIG surprise!!! Mullinax has been there for us from the very beginning and now they have partnered with Harborstone Credit Union to make an even bigger impact!

These two businesses are all about family and it shows! 🥰

Recently, Harborstone Credit Union partnered with Mullinax Ford of Olympia to come together and donate $10,000 to L.C. Renal Alliance!💙

L.C. Renal Alliance is a non-profit organization formed by parents of an FSGS child to help other children and families affected by Nephrotic Syndrome, FSGS, and other kidney diseases.

Mullinax Ford of Olympia has been an outstanding supporter of L.C. Renal Alliance since our formation. Most recently, we received a check from their employee combined fund drive in the amount of $8,750!!!

Since our formation, we have received $28,750 from Mullinax!

Without Mullinax and our generous supporters, we would not have been able to provide the direct support to our patient families that we have.

To date, our small, volunteer operated non-profit, has awarded over $66,400! While we are small, we are mighty...just like Lawsyn!

At age 5, Emily P. was diagnosed with Autism. Then, in August 2021, at age 13, Emily P. woke up and her eyes were swollen shut, which led to her diagnosis of Nephrotic Syndrome/FSGS, after which she acquired pulmonary hypertension, which has resulted lengthy hospitalizations due to high blood pressure and dangerously high potassium levels. Additionally, Emily has a cyst on her right lung, which doctors are concerned about removing due to her multiple comorbidities.

At one point, Emily and her caregiver travelled 80+ miles one-way three times per week for Albumin infusions, but she quickly reached the point where all attempts at medication have failed and both her kidneys have been removed (a bilateral nephrectomy). Emily will remain on dialysis until she receives the gift of a new kidney.

In addition to the difficulties Emily and her family have faced due to Emily’s health, her mother was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer, which has progressed to Stage 4 and caused her to no longer be able to work and receiving chemotherapy. Due to both Emily’s and her mother’s immune-compromised systems, Emily’s father has to take significant time from work to care for them both.

At one point, L.C. Renal Alliance provided a direct patient grant to this family to assist with their transportation costs for Emily’s treatment; however, upon learning about her mother’s cancer diagnosis and the financial hardship on their family that caused them to nearly lose their home, we brought their past-due mortgage current to relieve the stress of possibly losing their home.

This family’s immense struggles continue. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
