✨ Meet the Team Behind First 5 Napa ✨

Say hello to Selma Cadelario, one of our wonderful Community Stewards! 👋

Selma’s passion for supporting children and families began about three years ago while working at a high school wellness center. There, she had the opportunity to connect with students from all backgrounds, support them through personal and academic challenges, and see firsthand how meaningful early support can be.

That experience inspired her to join First 5 Napa, where she could make an impact even earlier in a child’s life. Selma loves being part of a team that helps build stronger foundations for children, families, and our community.

🌱 Outside of work: You can find Selma caring for her plants or getting creative with some drawing while listening to upbeat music!

🚗 Become a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician!

First 5 Napa is bringing National Child Passenger Safety Training right here to Napa! This four-day course is a hands-on opportunity to learn how to help families keep their youngest passengers safe — and become a nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) upon successful completion of the course.

📅 November 16–19
⏰ 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
📍 Napa Valley Community Foundation

First 5 Napa is covering the cost of bringing this training to our community. Participants pay a $95 certification fee directly to Safe Kids Worldwide when registering, which secures your spot in the course.

✨ Only 12 spots are available for Napa County residents!

Meet Jenny Ocon! 💛 Jenny is a passionate advocate for children and families in Napa County and brings that commitment to her role as a First 5 Napa Commission Member. She also serves as the Executive Director of UpValley Family Centers, where her work is rooted in strengthening families and communities.

✨📚 Happy Dolly Day, Napa County! 📚✨

Today, 9/25, we celebrated the one and only Dolly Parton and her incredible commitment to children and literacy! 💕🤠

At 9:25 a.m., students at several Napa County elementary schools walked outside to the sounds of Dolly Parton 🎶, grabbed a book, and read together for 10 minutes to celebrate Dolly and the joy of reading.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, First 5 Napa is helping put FREE books into the hands of Napa County’s youngest readers every month.

📚 1,942 children currently enrolled
🎓 322 children have graduated
📬 19,021 books mailed — and counting!

✨ Give Like Dolly Day is coming September 25! ✨

Dolly Parton believed in giving back and helping children dream bigger—and this year, we’re celebrating that spirit right here in Napa County through Give Like Dolly Day.

On September 25, we’re inviting our community to join us in giving back to children by supporting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Napa Valley. Your support helps make it possible for children in our community to receive a free, high-quality book every month from birth to age 5. 🦋

BIG NEWS for Napa County families! 💛

First 5 Napa is incredibly grateful to announce a $30,000 grant from the Rachel & Eric Jones Foundation to support our Safe Seats Program!

In just its first year, Safe Seats provided 990 car seats to Napa County families in need. This generous support will help us continue making sure our youngest community members have access to a safe ride.

And the timing couldn’t be better! During National Child Passenger Safety Week, we’re celebrating TODAY, September 21, at Napa Yard – Oxbow Gardens with our Car Seat Pick-Up Event and Dine & Donate.

Come by, learn more about Safe Seats and First 5 Napa, connect with our community, and grab a bite while supporting the program. 💛

A huge thank you to the Rachel & Eric Jones Foundation for investing in the safety and well-being of Napa County children and families.
