Congressman Mike Thompson has named NCN!'s co-founder Christina Benz, a longtime Napa resident and environmental advocate, California District 4’s “2026 Climate Crisis Champion” for Napa County.

“Climate change is the biggest long-term challenge we face today,” said Thompson, who has represented Napa in the US House of Representatives since 1999, and has been a vocal proponent of effective climate action. “If we were to get everything right, but mess up on the climate issue, it will all be for naught.”

The award was fittingly bestowed during a ceremony on April 26th, the end of Earth Week activities throughout the Bay Area. Thompson officially recognized a local climate hero in each of the counties he represents in Congress.

Napa Climate NOW! was pleased to have a booth at the Napa County Bicycle Coalition's “BikeFest” – a gathering of bicycle and active transportation enthusiasts – at the Oxbow Commons Park on Sunday, May 3. It was well attended by the entire community, young and old, with lots of great information, organized rides, and fun on-site games for the whole family, free bicycle repair advice with technicians on hand, and lots of cool gear to trade or share at discounted prices. Hope to see you all out on bicycles on NCBC’s-sponsored Bike to Work and School Day on May 14th.
