The Land Trust of Napa County was proud to be a key partner in identifying and planning this project. Together with the Friends of the Napa Open Space District we are advancing wildfire resilience for local communities, restoring natural ecological processes, and stewarding a healthier landscape for future generations.

Thank you, CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit, for your partnership in bringing prescribed fire to the Spanish Valley.

We are grateful for this collaboration and look forward to seeing the land respond, renew, and thrive in the seasons to come.

Among the wildlife recently documented across our preserves was the Ash-throated Flycatcher (Myiarchus cinerascens), which breeds in Napa County and winters as far south as Nicaragua.Darting across branches with its soft gray face, warm cinnamon colored tail, and large size, the Myiarchus cinerascens is one of Napa's most recognizable flycatchers.🌳 As secondary cavity nesters, they often raise their young in old woodpecker holes found in oak woodlands and savannas across protected landscapes. 🎶 Rather than a melodic song, the Ash-throated Flycatcher announces its presence with a sharp, rolling "ka brik" call that carries across open woodlands and grasslands.By protecting connected landscapes across Napa County, we help ensure that native birds like the migratory Ash-throated Flycatcher continue to find the habitat they need to nest, forage, and flourish.🔍 Have you heard this call out on the trails?

This week, we gathered at Skyline Park to celebrate and thank the individuals who generously share their time, talents, expertise, and passion in service of the scenic landscapes we all cherish.

✨ As we celebrate 50 years of conservation, we are deeply grateful for the generations of volunteers who have made this work possible. Every acre protected, every trail improved, and every restoration project completed carries the imprint of their service.

💚 To each volunteer who has walked alongside us in this work, thank you, today and every day.

At the Land Trust, each day feels like , a celebration of the landscapes that sustain us and the collective work required to steward them for generations to come.

🐻 By prioritizing connected landscapes and expanding wildlife corridors, we are helping plants and animals move, adapt, and thrive as climate change reshapes the habitats they call home.

💚 Because protecting nature is more than preserving what exists today. It is creating the conditions for life to flourish tomorrow.

Let us know how you're engaging in the environment around you today!

📰 Fresh off the press!

We’re excited to share that the Land Trust of Napa County was featured twice in today’s Napa Valley Register.

The first story, titled "Land Trust of Napa County readies for the next 50 years," takes a look at the origins of the Land Trust and the nuanced direction we are heading next.

The sidebar, titled "Napa's Land Trust has a diverse world, from a mine to waterfalls to frogs," looks at the variety of ecosystems permanently protected by the Land Trust, and the differing ways they become protected.

🌿 Each of us is grateful for the opportunity to have these stories shared and the collective effort behind this work. Take a moment to read both articles and learn more about the impact permanent land protection has across Napa County.

🐝 On World Bee Day, we're celebrating (and supporting!) the pollinators that help California’s landscapes bloom and thrive.

California is home to more than 1,600 species of native bees, making it one of the most bee-diverse regions in the world. Many are solitary, ground-nesting pollinators that steward native plants, wildlife habitat, and healthy ecosystems across Napa County.

Let's zoom in on one of these powerful pollinators, the California Mountain-Digger Bee (Habropoda depressa), a native bee species that you'll find right here in our region.

⏰ These bees are active in cooler morning temperatures, often pollinating flowers before many other insects emerge.

🌼 Unlike honey bees, Habropoda depressa lives alone, with each female building her own underground nest.

🌿 Their bodies are covered in thousands of tiny hairs, making them exceptionally effective at carrying pollen between native plants across the landscape.

Protecting connected lands provides essential habitat for native pollinators like the California Mountain-Digger Bee, while the plants in your garden can also support biodiversity close to home.

This week, our team is joining conservation leaders, scientists, Tribal representatives, and community organizations from across the region at the Together Bay Area Conference 2026 in San Francisco.

🌎 Centered on this year’s theme, “Pace, Scale, and Durability,” the conference brings together voices working to strengthen climate resilience, biodiversity, and healthy communities throughout the Bay Area.

✨ From keynote sessions and breakout discussions to field-based learning opportunities, this gathering creates space to exchange ideas, deepen partnerships, and learn from organizations advancing meaningful work across urban, rural, and wild lands.

We are grateful for the opportunity to represent Napa County within this broader regional network and look forward to sharing reflections and insights from the week ahead.

🍃 Thank you, Together Bay Area.
