New funding is open for Napa County nonprofits serving people with developmental disabilities. 💙

The William A. and Theresa N. Boughn Fund was created through a generous bequest from the Boughn family in honor of their daughter, Melissa Ann Boughn, who lived with developmental disabilities and spent nearly four decades as a resident of Vine Village.

Melissa's life was enriched by local nonprofits. Her parents entrusted us with carrying that legacy forward — investing in the organizations that help people with developmental disabilities flourish in the community they call home.

We are seeking proposals from Napa County nonprofits that provide residential care, housing and independent living supports, healthcare and behavioral health services, employment and recreational opportunities, transportation, or other daily living supports for people with developmental disabilities.

We welcome both general operating support requests and program-specific proposals.

We’re proud to share that three accomplished leaders joined the Board of Napa Valley Community Foundation this July: Russ Joy, Penny Mallen, and Richard Mendelson. All three joined the Board when our new fiscal year began on the first of the month, bringing our total board membership to 15.

🔥🎓Forging a Better Future: How Skilled Trades Scholarship Recipient Sean Jones Found Direction Through Welding 🎓🔥

Welding technology student Sean Jones is ready. At 26, after a childhood spent moving from home to home, city to city, he’s finally found where he’s meant to be. “This time I’m going to college, and I’m taking all the right classes, and everything is making sense,” Sean said. “It’s like for once in my life…I’m all A’s…it’s clear, it’s understandable, and I just love school.”

Sean has a clear plan, and he’s intent on seeing it through. After obtaining his A.S. in Welding Technology from Solano Community College, Sean intends to transfer to Montana Technological University and earn a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Welding Engineering. Receiving Napa Valley Community Foundation’s Skilled Trades Scholarship is helping him along the way.

From Detroit to Napa Valley: meet Antoniues Gregory, recipient of our El Futuro Educational Scholarship.

Antoniues spent years working his way up at an urban winery in downtown Detroit before coming to Napa for harvest in 2023. The camaraderie and connections he found here convinced him to stay—and he's now pursuing an associate degree in viticulture and enology at Napa Valley College's Viticulture & Winery Technology program. His goal? Transfer to Cal Poly, then bring everything he's learned home to Michigan, where he wants to be at the forefront of a growing wine region.

"I really want to be one of those people that are achieving their goals and being a staple in the community."

The El Futuro Educational Scholarship is made possible in partnership with the Moulds Family and , supporting Napa County residents pursuing an associate degree in viticulture and/or enology at Napa Valley College or Santa Rosa Junior College.

Join us for an evening with Drew Isaacs — UC Berkeley professor, geochemist, former NASA scientist, and our Napa neighbor — for a grounded look at what the data really tells us about our changing climate.
