Our message to Anne Cottrell (sent Feb 26th, 10:52 am)
.. Since there appears to be a lot of misinformation, let’s meet and discuss this, with the public. You can stand by the transparency and community-serving function of your job.
We welcome you (and the public) any time, March 1 or 2, any time of day on either the Saturday or Sunday. Please confirm the day and time.

This is urgent: this needs to happen BEFORE the animals are removed from the property on March 7.

I recommend coming to the property, finally, so you can see it for yourself.

(Not to worry, there will be no consumption of wine - since per the order not even my winemaker can consume wine there.)

I am also happy to meet you anywhere else, and on your terms.

NAPA COUNTY CLAIMS WE'RE LYING TO YOU ABOUT HAVING TO EVICT THE ANIMALS (but we've got them on the record).

On Feb 24th, Napa County has attempted to slander us by saying that the court has NOT ordered the removal of the animals at the Oasis, a 501 c 3 organization that is legally and physically distinct from HOOPES Vineyard.
They attempt to make us out as liars, trying to make out that we have misled you

But since we're all calling each other liars, here's our proof: The court transcript where it is EXPLICITLY stated that the animals have 2 weeks to go.

This morning, an injunction was issued that orders the eviction of the animals at the Oasis animal rescue, a 501 c 3 non profit.

To say this is a heartbreaking development cannot sum up the entirety of this injustice.

Right now, we are asking for the communities help in finding homes for these animals, many of whom require special diets, veterinary care, and overall a lot of love. If you know of someone with the space for some extra animals please let us know. It is gut wrenching to separate these animals from the bit of land they thought they would call home forever, forcing them through a stressful move, but since these animals are not raised for slaughter and consumtion it’s what the county has decided.

If you are unable to personally help these animals find a home, please share this post, express your outrage to our elected officials, and demand answers as to how this serves the greater good of the county.

In the middle of the night yesterday, someone came to our animal rescue and released the animals. They opened the gate, shooed them out, then closed the gate behind them. Luckily no animals were lost, mostly due to the fact they love it at the OASIS, and partly due to the fact that having a big organic garden right next to their enclosure gave them lots to snack on while they waited to be let in. Our cameras caught footage of the unneighborly incident and it's been reported, but if you know anything about the person or people responsible for this, please let us know!
