Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation We believe in equal access to books for all!

The Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization of book lovers that promotes literacy and provides cultural and educational programs to the Napa County community.

The Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation (NBLF) is searching for a part-time Executive Director as an exciting next step for our burgeoning non-profit organization.

Are you passionate about literacy and children’s education? Are you seeking a flexible part-time job that enables you to give back to your community? Do you have proven fundraising experience and the ability to engage and motivate donors? Are you a creative, innovative thinker who can strategically implement the goals of an organization?

Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation believes in equal access to books for all and works to remove barriers to book ownership for kids and families throughout Napa County. Given that reading at grade level by third grade is the number one predictor of high school graduation and career success, NBLF works closely with local school districts and other community organizations to set children up for success by providing free books to kids, families, and teachers. In addition to giving free books, NBLF also hosts literacy-based events, works to ensure classroom libraries feature books that reflect the diversity of their students, and more.

The Executive Director plays an instrumental role in the ex*****on of Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation’s mission. In coordination with the Board of Directors, this position is responsible for the overall strategic and operational aspects of the organization’s programs. They will also be tasked with increasing the visibility of the foundation, diversifying our funding base, expanding local partnerships, and developing a strong foundation upon which the organization can grow for years to come. The Executive Director will report directly to our Board of Directors.

Our ideal candidate:
-Proven experience coordinating fundraising and volunteer programs
-Knowledge of Board governance, nonprofit management, budget planning, and fiscal management
-Demonstrated ability to think strategically and organize, direct, plan, and coordinate the organization’s operations and programs
-Leadership skills including problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, and negotiation
-Ability to maintain effective working relationships with the Board of Directors, school district administrators, local elementary schools, local businesses, and other related community groups
-Strong public speaking and communication skills, both oral and written
-A love and understanding of literacy and children’s education

-Flexible schedule (10 working hrs/week)
-Ability to multitask and work independently
-Takes initiative
-Creative problem-solving skills
-Organized
-Collaborative
-Familiarity with Bloomerang or other donor software preferred, but not required
-Non-profit management experience, not required but desirable

We recognize that few candidates might meet every single piece of knowledge, experience, or education listed here. Research shows that women and people of color, among many other historically excluded groups, are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. Napa Bookmine Literary Foundation is dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable organization, so if you're excited about this role but your qualifications don’t perfectly align with everything in the job description, we still encourage you to apply.

This month we'd like to give a HUGE thank you to Far Niente Winery for their generous donation of $3500. Have you heard about our program? Each school year we give free books to first-graders at schools throughout Napa County. 📚 Last year we gave books to 340 kids at five elementary schools thanks to the generous support of our community. We want to do it again this year, but we need your help!

Donate to Books4Kids this September and you'll be entered to win one of five $50 gift cards generously donated by Napa Bookmine, Naysayer Coffee Roasters, La Cheve Bakery and Brews, Napa Palisades Saloon, and Kitchen Door Napa! Supporting children's literacy + local businesses at the same time? Now that's what we call a win-win situation.
