6.4 TONS💥💥💥. 14,109 lbs ⚖️🚮 18 teams 👫👭🧑‍🤝‍🧑. 2 BEAUTIFUL DAYS 🌞That's what the 7th Annual Nantucket Litter Derby is all about: getting outside and GIVING BACK to this pristine place we call home.🌍🙌💪

🥇 CLEANIACK takes first place for the win for their 4th year in a row 🏆🏆🏆🏆
🥈 Land Bank Trashers clinching 4 in a row!🏆🏆🏆🏆
🥉 Sconset Clean Team — rounding out the podium with a massive effort out West! 🔥🏆

One thing we've never done before is tally all the spots that our teams cleaned and when we did the numbers we were truly SHOCKED! 😳😅

Our Litter Pirates covered this island from Madaket to Quidnet 🌊 Bamboo Forest to Deadhorse Valley 🌳 Serengetti 🦅to Low Beach Road 🌅 — and pulled out everything from over 240 lbs of spent tennis balls 🎾🎾 to a partial Mustang 🚘, 4 boats 🛶, 3 windsurfers, a moped 🛵, a hunting blind 🦌 and a wallet with actual money in it 🤣🌍

2,080 lbs of tires 🛞 3,040 lbs of metal 🧲 2,080 lbs of glass 🥛🍾 And 100s of scratch tickets 🎫 because Nantucket is known to be lucky, apparently. 🎰

We'll be honest — this was our lowest turnout ever 😭, and the sun was shining both days 🌞🌞🌞6.4 tons with 18 teams is incredible.
BUT 🤔🤔🤔
What could we do with 30? We intend to find out. 💪🤓

AMAZING TEAM🙌 AMAZING PEOPLE🤩! If you're looking for someone to thank for picking the island this past weekend, the folks that make up the team the CLEANIACKS are a great place to start!

💥Their team spirit, determination and competitive edge truly embody what the Nantucket Litter Derby is all about!

We are pretty sure we wouldn't have gotten half way to 15 tons without their 6 FULL TRUCKLOADS of litter this past weekend so if you see these incredible people driving by, in the grocery store or at town meeting, be sure to give them the thanks they deserve or show em in the comments!

THE OFFICIAL NUMBERS ARE IN!!! 💥💥💥

23 LITTER DERBY TEAMS 🤩💪🌍 (and even more unofficial helpers!) came together for one shared goal: a cleaner island. And JUST WOW!!!! 👏👏👏

🔥 30,480 POUNDS of litter collected and removed from Nantucket in ONE WEEKEND!

Over 15 tons of junk — GONE.🚮👋

Here’s just a taste of what teams uncovered:

⚠️2,014 lbs of HAZMAT⚠️ WORTH THE EFFORT JUST FOR THAT REMOVAL 🤗🤗🤞🌍💧💧

245 lbs of wooden pallets 💥

1,410 lbs of plastic recyclables 💥

A staggering 14,180 lbs of metal — from rusty car parts to sewer drains to who-knows-what... 💥

And of course, the "specials" list is always fun!

A quick update as we head into the weekend—🔥🔥🔥

We are officially at 28 teams and counting for this year’s Litter Derby! It’s just incredible to see these numbers and the way our community continues to come together to take action. 🔥🌍🚮

Thank you to everyone who signed up and spread the word! The energy is high, the forecast looks promising, and we’re ready to hit the ground running. 🙌💪🚮🏴‍☠️

Just a quick PSA 🌍 that we are officially ONE MONTH out from this year's Litter Derby, and we are STOKED 💪🏼 to have 9 teams already signed up! 😱🔥

What’s even more shocking is that the vast majority of these teams have competed before, including two of our first place winners! WOWZA! 🤯 Are they actual angels 😇 or just really competitive? Maybe they like the $1,000 CASH PRIZE 👀 Maybe they’re just fed up with all the trash ♻️ on our roadsides, beaches, and public lands.

Whatever the reason, we love to see it! 🤩👍
