Join us virtually on June 15th for the launch of the Boston Society of Architects' (BSA) first regional design guidebook, What is Adaptive Reuse?: Practical Solutions for the Cape & Islands. Housing Nantucket Executive Director Anne Kuszpa will be a featured presenter, sharing the story of a recently completed rental home created through our House Recycling Program.

She will be joined by Bethany Moody, Senior Project Manager and Team Leader at ICON Architecture, and Philippe Jordi, CEO of Island Housing Trust. During this virtual event, the BSA will provide an overview of the guidebook and showcase case studies from the Coady School Residences (Cape Cod), Old Gay Head Parsonage (Martha’s Vineyard), and the 66 Pochick Ave House Move (Nantucket), followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

The guidebook explores practical, real-world solutions to the Cape and Islands' housing challenges through adaptive reuse and innovative development strategies. Housing Nantucket’s featured project demonstrates how older homes can be thoughtfully repurposed to create new rental housing opportunities for Nantucket’s year-round community.

What do Nantucket’s newly released FY2026 HUD income limits actually mean for the island’s year-round community?

While the county’s Median Family Income (MFI) decreased slightly this year, several household income limits increased across key categories, impacting eligibility for affordable and workforce housing programs on Nantucket.

In our latest blog, we break down what these updated numbers mean, how HUD calculates income limits, and why the gap between local incomes and the true cost of housing continues to grow.

What’s really driving the growing gap between what it costs to build housing and what people can actually afford to pay?

In this new piece by Dave Armanetti, Housing Nantucket's Director of Real Estate Development, we take a closer look at the widening disconnect shaping today’s housing landscape, from rising construction and financing costs to the limits of attainable rents.

It’s a clear, data-driven breakdown of why developing workforce housing is becoming increasingly challenging and what that means for the future of year-round communities like Nantucket.
