Camp Accomplish is a summer experience from Melwood and Children’s National.

These two dedicated, highly credentialed teams offer a distinct and inclusive summer camp for kids and teens with disabilities or chronic health conditions across the mid-Atlantic region.

For a lot of kids with hydrocephalus, summer is often defined by what they can't do. At Camp Head Strong, we flip that script, creating a space where they can move past the medical labels and focus on making friends who truly understand their journey.

Our community came together in a beautiful way earlier this month to honor the memory of Joanne Marie Hathway (Meltzer), daughter of Don and Debbie Hathway, who passed away from complications related to Type 1 diabetes.

Joanne’s legacy continues to shine through the Joanne Marie Hathway (Meltzer) Diabetes Camp Endowment, which directly supports Camp Take Charge, a specialty program offered by Camp Accomplish in collaboration with Children’s National Hospital. By providing a specialized camp experience for children living with Type 1 diabetes, this endowment helps kids build confidence and find a community that understands their journey.
