So earlier I teased our fair entries. We won!!!! Trinity Community Garden received two blue ribbons this year! The garden won the top prize for both hard neck garlic and beets. Thank you so much for your continued support that keeps this garden growing. We would also like to share, that so far this year, we have contributed 284 pounds of fresh, organic produce to local Food Banks and shelters.

The USDA considers one pound of vegetables to be a family meal, so we (and you) should be proud that we have served so many families in our community. Fun fact: since the Garden's inception in 2008, we have provided 478,440 pounds of healthy produce to people in need. Wow!

I hope everyone had a joyful and safe Fourth! We sure did by harvesting over 30 pounds of gorgeous Montana Giant garlic. Our garden total is now 154 pounds. We chose the best looking and largest heads to enter in the Canyon County Fair. Last year we took home the Blue. Hoping for a repeat!!

It's been a busy month at Trinity! We planted a bed of red and yellow onions from gifted starter sets (certified, of course!); got the cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers in; planted 5 beds of beets, 5 beds of carrots; planted 25 gifted dahlias (thank you LM!) for alter flowers; and spread two pickup truck loads of fresh wood chips for the pathways. It's looking good!!

In 2010, Paulette helped create a local Traveling Table mobile food pantry program to deliver food to those in need. The last Wednesday of every month, TCG assists the program by helping to distribute boxes; another way we can bring food to those who need it. This year we donated some extra seedlings that we are growing for the garden. Now, people can enjoy growing their own food!

Remember those tiny little Pok Choi and radishes from the last post? We've started harvesting them! 4 pounds of radish, and 5 pounds of Pok Choi so far.
