The House Next Door We accompany and assist single mothers and their children as the mothers pursue their educational goals!

The MISSION of The House Next Door is accompany and assist single mothers and their children as the mothers pursue appropriate educational degrees, in part, by providing rent-free housing. It is our goal to help young women become successful and self-sufficient, and thereby improve the quality of life for themselves, their children, and the community. We can currently house up to 4 families at any one time. If you know of a family who might be a good fit for our program, please contact us!

Just a reminder! 🏡💛

This Saturday, The House Next Door is having an Open House from 10 AM–1 PM!

Come stop by, tour the house, and learn more about who we are and what we do to support single moms in our community. We’ll also be doing some cleaning and getting the house ready for new applicants, so anyone who would like to volunteer is welcome to join us!

If you’re interested in learning more about our mission, volunteering, or even becoming a member of our Board of Directors, we would love to meet you.

The House Next Door offers a safe, supportive, and encouraging home for single mothers working toward education, employment, and self-sufficiency. 🌟

📋 BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

* 👩‍👧‍👦 Be a single mother with children age 12 or younger
* 🎓 Be enrolled in a education or higher learning course, and actively working toward personal goals
* 💼 Be employed or actively seeking employment
* 🤝 Be willing to participate in case management
* 🌿 Be substance-free for a minimum of 6 months
* ✅ Be willing to complete a background check can still be accepted if in compliance
* 🏡 Be able to live cooperatively with other mothers and help maintain the home

* 💡 Be responsible for utility payments

We are excited about our upcoming clean up day!

If you haven't heard we are doing a clean up day at the house on Saturday October 10th from 10am-1pm. We would LOVE to see you there even to just see the house and talk to board members (not that you can't wash a window while you are there!).

Funding Friday

Did you know The House Next Door relies 100% on donors like you to fund the house? There is no government support for the house. If you haven't thought about donating to the house now is the time! We are always in need of donations for the upkeep on the house (it was built in 1920!).

Have you met Mikaela? She serves The House Next Door in a BIG way as the director and we appreciate all she does for the house. Here is a little about her!

I’m honored to serve on the board with our other amazing board members of The House Next Door as the Director. I’ve been on the board for the past four years, and this non profit holds a very special place in my heart.

I was born in Canyon County and raised by a single mother, so I understand firsthand the struggles that can come with being a single mom and the challenges children can experience while growing up in a single-parent home. I know how important it is for moms to have support, stability, and opportunities to build a better future for themselves and their children.

As a social worker by profession, helping others has always been a passion of mine. I’m also a proud mom of five and happily married. I love my family, Helping those in need community, and being part of a non profit that supports single moms as they work toward their goals while creating a brighter and more stable future themselves and for their children.
