The Shoe That Grows The Shoe That Grows expands five sizes and lasts for years, created for kids impacted by poverty.

At Because International, we believe everyone deserves a chance to succeed. A 501(c)(3), our mission is to use products as solutions to alleviate poverty by meeting immediate needs and creating opportunities for empowerment. The Shoe That Grows, our flagship product, grows five sizes and lasts for years, created for kids impacted by poverty. Simple, innovative products like The Shoe That Grows can meet immediate needs of health and safety for children and families in poverty and crisis situations. We’ve learned lots of lessons in the creation, production, and distribution of The Shoe That Grows, and we’ve connected with many other entrepreneurs along the way. This product and process served as a catalyst for the Pursuit Incubator, a virtual training program for entrepreneurs around the world. ‼️ Inventory Update ‼️ We are expecting our new shipment of shoes on Wednesday morning! Thousands of pairs are packed and on their final leg to get to our Idaho warehouse, where we'll have a whole crew of people ready to receive them. As we fulfill back orders, orders will be shipped in the order they were received and as quickly as we possibly can! If you have not ordered The Shoe That Grows for your Christmas shoeboxes yet, we recommend doing that asap so you can get in the queue and receive your shoes as early as possible!

Urgent need! Help us fund shoes for the last group of schools our partner Furaha is trying to reach. Furaha Community Foundation has worked with us to distribute over 10,000 pairs of The Shoe That Grows across five of six wards within the slums where they work. However, even these impressive numbers haven't gotten shoes to every student. We are specifically asking for immediate support to complete all the schools they serve—and the funding deadline is tomorrow so we can get them shoes this term.

It's all hands on deck at our Idaho warehouse as we anticipate our next shipment of shoes! We are counting, and (as we love to do) gamifying packaging the shoe charms, writing thank-you notes and getting excited to ship shoes to you ASAP!

Torn and used school uniforms. Ground too hot to walk on. Medical waste and needles outside of school grounds. Soil-borne parasites. Paying to use a bathroom in a pub at 7 AM because the school has no latrines. Making shoes from old tires to cross 6 or 7 km of rocky terrain to get to school.

These are six unique problems facing six different communities in Kenya, supported by six incredible partner organizations.

A few weeks ago, Director of Impact, Sarah Hille, spent time with these organizations in Kenya. Please take a minute to read her account of these conversations and the impact The Shoe That Grows is having in each of these unique situations. Sarah says she returned with a "renewed motivation to keep connecting with organizations working hard to give students every opportunity to receive a good education."

Think back to 5th grade for a second. Were you worried about standing out? Did you think about trying to fit in, having the right clothes or the cool kind of backpack? These types of things can impact a child's confidence, and the students at St. Elizabeth Osasame school in Kenya are no different.
