Idaho Homies

Idaho Homies Through the Idaho Homies program participants are offered gang rehabilitation through several types of counseling.

Idaho Homies is a non-profit organization that assists at-risk formerly gang involved youth to become positive, contributing members of society by way of job placement, training, and education. Idaho Homies is an extension of a street ministry which began eleven years ago in Mexico where we helped individuals living on the street to get off drugs, find jobs and be encouraged about their futures. I

daho is our home and we have come back to continue the ministry in our own community and assist those who are ready to remove themselves from a destructive way of life. First and foremost we offer chapel services where those formally gang involved can find freedom from the shame and unworthiness of their past and gain hope for their future. Next we provide the following types of counseling services from certified counselors: drug and alcohol counseling, family counseling, parenting and health classes. We also offer tattoo removal as part of the rehabilitation program. Gang rehabilitation is a vital part of our platform because of the trauma of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. These dysfunctional home lifestyles are major contributors to the feelings of shame, unworthiness and low self-esteem, which are the drivers for seeking out gang life. Gang life is a substitute for a healthy family life and this where Idaho Homies comes in, Idaho Homies HEALS. Youth are often pressured into joining a gang by their peers. Gang members typically range from 14 to 21 years of age, however many are as old as their mid-30’s. Sadly, many gang families’ children are raised to join the gang lifestyle as a part of their family tradition. Parents even encourage their children to join the gang they had been a member of in the past. This pattern must be broken in those who seek help, so that future generations may also break free of the gang life

Idaho Homies provides more than just social services; our educational program offers life skill classes and enrichment curriculum. Our General Education Development (GED) program will assist participants to gain hope for their future. Often times early recruited youth leave the education system to become a part of the business ran by their gang. If they don’t end up in prison, they lose track of time and miss the education they need to lead a successful life. Our program starts them on the track to a better future by providing them with the means to successfully obtain a GED. In addition we provide participants employment training and job placement. Job placement will be provided in one of our several venues. In the first year of our outreach our desire is to place participants in our tortilla factory where they will make and deliver corn tortillas and in a Mexican Food Coach located on our property. By the 3rd year of our outreach we plan to open a drive through Mexican Restaurant, a drive through Coffee House and an Auto Repair Shop in which we can train and employ many more program participants. As we look to the 6th year of our outreach we envision opening a Silk Screen Printing Company and Landscaping business. Idaho Homies is a non-profit 501c3 organization - all
charitable contributions are therefore tax deductible.

I recently heard someone say their mentality used to be "if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's a duck".

But we say to you....what if it is an ugly duckling who is actually a swan just waiting for someone to tell it it doesn't have to be a duck?

Idaho Homies Outreach to Former Gang Members of Canyon County

Idaho Homies Outreach provides hope, training, and support for formerly gang-involved and recently incarcerated men and women, allowing them to redirect their lives and become contributing members to the community.

The facility for Idaho Homies is located in gang-neutral territory between Nampa and Caldwell, Idaho. Idaho Homies is a faith-based, social enterprise that provides job training as well as comprehensive free services for those seeking employment and a
path out of gang life.

The Idaho Homies first priority is helping clients obtain a high school diploma or GED certification as well as life skills.
