I've been trying to produce/hybridize pacific coast irises with strong contrasting colors. This allows the iris landscape to show up/stand out at a distance. Less focus on individual irises with intricate pattering. The strong contrasting colors is more useful/popular for a landscape. The other, the intricate pattering and iris shape is used more in judging and shows where more emphasis is on the individual iris and all its characteristics. Two different views. The first pic. with more emphasis but at a distance all the veining is hard to see. The other pics. have the stronger contrasting colors. With the exception of the first pic. 'Sarah's Pacific Sunrise', the others are unnamed and unregistered.

Please let me know, SPCNI members, if you can open the current issue of Pacific Iris.
The link does not seem to be working on my end, so I am looking for confirmation before sending out another message.
Thanks!

The fall 2025 issue of Pacific Iris is back from the printer and getting ready to mail. Yes, it's late this year. Emails with the digital issue will go out soon, followed by postal mail issues.

This will be the last print issue sent to life members, who will still receive digital issues as long as they want.

Gareth did another gorgeous job with the layouts. He's been a great editor at SPCNI.

If you need to contact me as SPCNI's secretary, please use the email address on this page. Our landline was cut today by utility workers, and we have no idea when or if it will be live again.

Hiya! This is Jeff, your friendly neighborhood seed chair.

I’m pleased to announce that the Seed Exchange is now (kind of) open! Long story short, the board has been working hard to set up a new, more user-friendly website for the society, but are currently dealing with some staff changes and technical issues that have delayed our ability to deliver on this goal.

HOWEVER, it was of great importance for us to try to get some seeds out to you hungry-hungry horticulturist, so we’ve decided to go retro this season, and open the seed exchange in an abbreviated mail only format.

Order instructions can be found at the following link! The deadline to postmark orders is February 21st, 2025.

We endeavor to host another exchange toward the end of the year, but in the meantime — Happy Planting! You can reach me at [email protected] for questions.
