In the Northeastern-Nahant dispute, environmental groups uniformly opposed the university, with nearly 20 nonprofits filing an amicus brief on January 9 in support of Nahant's use of eminent domain to establish a conservation restriction on over 12 acres, including land slated for Northeastern's expansion of its marine science research center. The Massachusetts Municipal Association and Attorney General Andrea Campbell also weighed in with similar sentiments.

Oral Argument before the Supreme Judicial Court is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. on February 2nd in the John Adams Courthouse, 1 Pemberton Square, Boston, MA. Court sessions are held in Courtroom 1 (Seven Justice Courtroom) on the second floor and are open to the public. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-seated basis (the SJC Website suggests seating for the public of approximately sixty-four persons).
