Good morning all
After talking with the city manager and the police chief, I want to clarify the cruise cancellation miscommunication. The permit was originally submitted back in January and did not have the cruise route on it because we were still figuring out the new layout. We, Shawna and Sam, spoke with Chief Robinson about alternative options since our normal parade route wasn’t available. We couldn’t come up with one so no cruise route was set at that point. Later in the spring, chamber members came up with a route and it was discussed at chamber meetings but unfortunately it did not get communicated back to the city. As both the mayor and a chamber member, I could have done better at making sure that communication happened. I apologize for that and take ownership. It makes me disheartened to see all the good that happened at Harvest Fest be disregarded over one mistake. Please community, give each other grace and if you are capable and feel so led, offer to volunteer! The more hands, the lighter the load. Thank you, Samantha.
