This Veterans Day, we honour the service of Willie Nelson, not just as a country music legend, but as a veteran.

Shortly after finishing high school in 1950, Willie Nelson enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served for roughly nine months before being medically discharged due to chronic back problems.

Though his time in uniform was brief, his commitment to the veteran community has been long-lasting. He has used his platform to advocate for veterans’ healthcare and support organizations assisting former service members.

On this Veterans Day, we say thanks to Willie Nelson for answering the call of service and continuing to honor those who wear the uniform.
