The Cultural Council of Georgetown County invites you to attend a “Spring Concert” performed by the Long Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Charles Evans.

The "Third Tuesday Treasures" free monthly concert series is pleased to welcome back th...is group of exceptionally talented youth musicians to perform in the beautifully restored and acoustically acclaimed Winyah Auditorium.

This concert will also feature the four LBSYO Concerto Competition Winners for 2012: 1st Place Zhongliang Chen, piano; 2nd Place Rachel Evans, cello; 3rd Place Michelle Siembida, soprano; and 4th Place Eliza Edge, horn. Mr. Chen and Ms. Evans are also winners of the Cultural Council’s “Young Treasures Scholarship Competition.”

The free concert is Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at 7pm. Winyah Auditorium is located in historic Georgetown at 1200 Highmarket Street. A suggested donation of $10 accepted at the door to support youth education programming.

The Tuesday event kicks off the Cultural Council’s newly developed “Youth Arts Festival,” which will culminate in a big event on Saturday, May 19 at the Rice Museum and on Front Street in Georgetown. The May 19 festivities begin at 3pm and will feature several youth performers from around the region and the grand opening of the “All County Youth Art Exhibit & Competition, which will remain up at the Rice Museum’s Prevost Gallery through June 20, 2012. The Festival is funded by a grant by Service-Over-Self of Georgetown County.

The Cultural Council thanks Pawleys Island Bakery for sponsoring the intermission treats at each of the “Third Tuesday Treasures” concerts. Funds raised at the concerts go toward helping the Cultural Council reach out to the youth of Georgetown County through programs like “Young Treasures Scholarships” and “Arts for Young People.” For more information visit www.culturalcouncil.info" www.culturalcouncil.info or call 843-520-0744.

We are so excited to be launching our new Long Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra Alumni page! If you or someone you know has been a member of this orchestra in the past, please LIKE our page! We hope that you will post your recent bio here and give us an opportunity to stay in touch.
We are also hoping to stage a reunion concert of our alumni members this summer. So please let us know if you will be available to participate this June.
