Long Bay Youth Symphony

Youth Symphony of the Grand Strand Dr. Charles Jones Evans is the Music Director and Conductor of the Long Bay Symphony and the Long Bay Youth Symphony.

The LBYS is a full symphony orchestra comprised of local students from schools all over Horry, Georgetown and Brunswick counties. The Long Bay Youth Symphony is open to players of all orchestral instruments, from 7th graders to college undergraduates (some exceptions to this may be granted, at the discretion of the director). The Long Bay Youth Symphony rehearses on Tuesday nights from 4:45pm to 7

:15pm in the Band Hall on the campus of Coastal Carolina University, and performs three major concerts every year; one in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Acceptance is based on audition, which occurs the first week of September. Alumni of the LBYS are current music students at various Universities, Colleges and Conservatories around the United States. Calling all Baseball fans! Come out and catch the Pelicans take on the Columbia Fireflies. It’s a great chance to spend time with friends, enjoy a fun night at the ballpark, and support a great cause.

All proceeds from this event go directly to our Youth Programs, supporting tuition assistance, music programming, guest artists, and future events.

All ticket holders will be placed on a call list. On the day of the game, simply check in at the Pelicans office to pick up your tickets.

This weekend, a group of students showcased the orchestra's talents by performing at the 2025 Youth Performing Arts Festival in Conway, SC. We are deeply appreciative of YPAF for hosting us and proud of the exceptional effort our students exhibited!

We are so excited to be participating the Annual Youth Performing Arts Festival in downtown Conway this Saturday October 18th! Our chamber ensemble is ready to take the stage at 1:40pm. Come out to hear our incredible students and learn more about the The Long Bay Symphony's youth ensembles and educational programs 🎶🎻🎺🪈

Festival Day is just around the corner THIS SATURDAY, DOWNTOWN CONWAY FROM 1-7PM! Below are the scheduled "LIVE PERFORMANCES" on the MAIN STAGE! Also, visit our partner booths, interactive arts tent, take a ride down one of the dry slides or grab a treat at a food truck! It's going to be a great day to support the arts in our community!
