Postcards against PFAs! Join Cape Fear Sierra Club and Cape Fear River Watch to write postcards to Senator Lee, calling for better protections against toxins in our water.

The EPA failed North Carolinians. The EMC failed North Carolinians. We need Senator Lee to LEAD!

He must use his powers in the Senate to protect North Carolinians and his district from PFAS and emerging contaminants. We deserve clean water.

Come write a postcard! We’ll have a light dinner and snacks provided by CFSC. Bring a pen, personal stories, & passion against PFAs (& 1-4 dioxane, IYKYK)! Our organizations are requesting a meeting with Senator Lee to deliver the postcards in person and to discuss our need for better protections against these toxic discharges.

URGENT: Tell NC lawmakers NOW to oppose two bad bills that would destroy the unique landscape of North Carolina’s beautiful coastline. The legislation would weaken longstanding coastal protections and expand the use of hardened structures such as seawalls, sheet pile walls, and terminal groins. Speak up now! Here's an easy-to-use form from our friends at the NC Conservation Network to tell your state senator to oppose these bills.

The Roadless Rule is being attacked on a new front - speak up now!

Today, Senator Mike Lee announced plans to nullify the Roadless Rule, which would put 45 million acres of our National Forests at risk. The Senate Energy Natural Resources Committee will be voting TOMORROW.

Will you call your Senator right now and urge them to oppose this amendment and protect wild spaces? 1-888-701-6507

The EPA is considering rolling back important regulations on coal ash. If they do, coal burning utilities like Duke Energy could pick back up on storing coal ash where they can leak into our waterways, including delicate ecosystems and our own drinking water.

Tell the EPA to do its job and protect us before June 12th with sc.org/CoalAsh.

The Roadless Rule is one of the most important environmental protections of the last 30 years, and there are three protected forests in North Carolina: The Pisgah, The Nantahala and The Croatan.

Before the federal government implemented the Roadless Rule 25 years ago, the U.S. Forest Service held more than 600 meetings. It looks like the Trump administration may rescind the rule without a single public hearing, so we held our own. On April 15th, we hosted a Roadless Rule Public Townhall in Asheville with some of our partner organizations to give folks the chance to speak up for these beautiful roadless regions.

We need your help! Submit a comment to protect these wild regions: sc.org/RoadlessRule

⚠️ Trump is still attacking our wildest forests! 🌲

Our undeveloped national forests are the heart of our public land. But now one of the most important — and most underappreciated — conservation policies is on the verge of being cut by Trump. If the Roadless Area Conservation Rule is repealed, 45 million acres of pristine national forests across the country would be opened up for the first time to road building and the logging, mining, and extractive industries that come with that.

The US Forest Service has not opened a comment period on this issue yet, but we are expecting them to offer only a brief window for comments to be submitted. To help show the broad support for the Roadless Rule, we will be collecting comments until the comment period is open, and then will deliver those collected to the US Forest Service.

Writing an op ed or a letter to the editor in your local newspaper is still one of the best ways to share your ideas in a way that makes them part of the conversation for decision makers.

It can be a little daunting, but it doesn’t have to be!

Join us at lunchtime Friday for a 1-hour session with veteran journalist Travis Fain and NC Sierra Club Lobbyist Lisa Hazirjian who will explain how to write a clear, concise and effective piece, figure out where to submit it, and how to submit so that it gets published.

This Friday, May 15, noon - 1 pm. Sign up in the comments!

Exciting news! After months of waiting, House Bill 369, the Parking Lot Reform and Modernization Act, is moving through the NC Senate! The bill scheduled for a hearing in the Senate State and Local Government Committee on Tuesday, May 12 at 12pm.

We need your help! NC is growing rapidly, but many of our rules haven’t kept pace with the needs of our communities. A YES vote means less flooding, improved water quality, lower housing and development costs, and more vibrant main streets across North Carolina.

Here’s how to take action:
