Well, we tried! Threats of rain moved us from the Conway American Legion to Deb’s house to join her community tag sale. Shortly after this picture was taken Carol and Pauline were gathering items that the winds were blowing over. Minutes later rain started and we three scrambled to get all items under cover. Eventually we knew, this tag sale is over… then dry off, repack items, pull-up the cars, reload and off to donate to 13 Thrift Store and unload. Good news, donated funds goes to Haiti Relief!

Best thing about holding your club meeting on a Federal Holiday, no school. Drake Irish Dance School was able to bring dancers for speakers spot. Rose, Penelope,Evelyn and Audrey ages 6-9, showcased various Irish dance styles! Rotarians throughly enjoyed these youngsters perform. Thanks to President-Elect Richard Berry who brought two of his own Lassies.

Worth a repeat!

What a gem gifted to the community. I’m referring to the generosity of the Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin businessmen who shaped the vision of the Myrtle Beach Art Museum into reality. Thank you!

Caught!

S*X TRAFFICKING SUSPECT ARRESTED

An investigation sparked by a tip from a Georgetown County teen has resulted in the arrest of an Horry County man accused of s*x trafficking. Wade Jacob Curry, 19, is charged with Trafficking in Persons, Victim Under 18 Years of Age, 1st Offense, and Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, Victim 11-14 Years of Age, 2nd Degree. A Georgetown County youth told investigators that Curry would meet her at a grocery store in Pawleys Island in a white work van and have s*x with her in a beach access parking lot. He would give her vapes, which she sold at school, giving a portion of the money back to him. There is evidence that similar crimes against other minors may have occurred.

The teen positively identified Curry in a lineup and warrants for his arrest and a search of his home were obtained. Curry was arrested without incident by representatives from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office, SLED, and Horry County Sheriff’s Office. He was booked into the Georgetown County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information should call 843-546-5102.
