Women United of Lake Area United Way provided an excellent program today at their Education Forum. The keynote speaker, Joy Hofmeister, has so much knowledge and commitment to the educational development of our children. Rachell Savory and Janell Daggett, OSBI Agents in the ICAC Unit (Internet Crimes Against Children) gave information on their never-ending task of keeping children safe from internet predators.

Stop by Walmart in Muskogee on Tuesday, July 7 from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM and donate school supplies to support students and teachers throughout our community.

Every backpack, notebook, pencil, and box of crayons makes a difference and helps ensure local children have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

Thank you Muskogee Medical Foundation for awarding us a $4000 grant for our Dignity for Her program. For 7 years, we have sacked and distributed over 10,000 Dignity for Her bags to three local food pantries. This grant enables us to continue our Period Poverty program. Each bag contains a month supply of feminine hygiene products for women and girls who utilize the services of the food pantries. SIA South Central Region

We enjoyed our trip to Sunshine Nursery Too so much last year, we did it again this year. For our 5th Thursday Social, we made a large or small flowerpot arrangement of the most beautiful and healthy plants. We learned to select plants so we had a Thriller, Fillers and Spillers in our pots. SIA South Central Region

At the Rougher 300 Banquet, Alexandria Morgan was the winner of $300 cash from SI Muskogee. Rougher 300 is a Muskogee Public Schools program which encourages community volunteerism. Seniors accruing 300 hours during their high school years receive a Rougher 300 cord to wear at the graduation exercises. Alexandria had an impressive 516.75 volunteer hours. This year our club added a little excitement at the banquet by making our selection based on a drawing. The names of the senior girls were put in a container and one lucky name was drawn. Congratulations Alexandria. And congratulations to all the seniors who volunteered 300 or more hours. SIA South Central Region

Six members attended the SIA South Central Region 2026 Conference in Kansas City. Our Club received a Certificate of Appreciation for participating in all three Soroptimist International of the Americas' Dream Programs: Live Your Dream, Dream It Be It and Big Goal Projects. We were pleased with the bids on our silent auction item. All proceeds benefitted the Dreams in Action awards. It is always fun to visit with members of other clubs from TX, OK, KS, MO and IL.

Six of us will be heading to Kansas City for a SIA South Central Region Conference. This is a special conference as it is the 100th South Central Region Conference. Our silent auction item is ready to go. Thank you to several members who donated items for our basket which we are calling a Sunshine Basket. The money raised at the silent auction goes to Dreams in Action Program awards.

Brooke Johnson is our honoree of a $1000 Live Your Dream Scholarship. The award is given to a woman with dependents who has faced challenges and is improving her life through education. After a decade in the mortgage industry, Brooke decided to change careers so she could help families experiencing trauma. She will graduate in 2027 from NSU with a Bachelor of Social Work and plans to become a licensed social worker. Brooke pulled her family together after experiencing severe trauma. In addition to being in college and on the honor roll, she is employed, mentors students in financial literacy and provides support to her two daughters, ages 18 and 21, who are also in college. Brooke is known to be a high achiever and determined to improve her and her daughters’ lives. SIA South Central Region

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The official symbol is a teal ribbon. In the US, someone is sexually assaulted every 68 seconds. Believe Survivors. It can be comforting to hear, "I believe You".
