Many thanks to MONAA for their financial donation to help fund our new Pregnant Teen Program. Muskogee Oklahoma Native American Association (MONAA) was established in December of 2018 by Michael Tarralbo, an elder from the Muskogee Native American community. He took a resolution to the City Council of Muskogee and they declared the second Monday in October as Indigenous Peoples Day in Muskogee!
The organization was established to preserve culture and language of all Native American community members. They also made it a mission to educate the community, and expose our youth to cultural practices and experiences. This mission has carried through their work in the community as they hosted Muskogee’s Indigenous Peoples Day, and hosted fundraising events to provide monetary support to organizations like the Murrow.
A quote from Madison Shoemaker, “With the organizations closing, we would like to donate a portion of our closing money to the Murrow Home because we believe strongly in their capabilities to not only provide quality care, but to provide a loving Native American family.”

The Muskogee Oklahoma Native American Association met on February 15, 2024, for our scheduled election. At this meeting, there was not enough interest expressed to seat a board. Therefore, MONAA has been closed and will no longer hold meetings. The money remaining in the organization was divided between Muskogee Public Schools Indian Education and the Murrow Indian Childrens Home in Muskogee. These organizations supported our mission and shared values of preserving culture and language, as well as providing education on Native American cultural beliefs and practices. We want to thank those individuals within the organization who provided countless hours of support over the past years and those who made donations that made our events possible.
