Join us Tuesday, September 15 for a special Sunset Cruise benefiting both The People’s Table and the Shoreline Lions Club!

Come enjoy a beautiful evening on the water while helping support two organizations working to make a difference right here in our community.

🎉 THIS SUNDAY, WE'RE CELEBRATING RU! 🎉

Sam and Cisily are celebrating their little guy Ru turning ONE, and they're bringing the celebration to The People's Table! 💛

Ru has been part of The People's Table since before he was even born, so celebrating his first birthday with the community that has watched him grow just feels right.

And we're making this Sunday extra fun for the kids!

🎉💛 Come Celebrate Ru’s 1st Birthday at The People’s Table! 💛🎉

Sam and Cisily are celebrating their little one, Ru, turning ONE by giving back to the community he has grown up surrounded by.

Ru has been coming to The People’s Table with his family since he was still in his mama’s belly, so they thought there was no better way to celebrate his first birthday than by celebrating with the community that has been part of his life from the very beginning.

They’re taking over The People’s Table this Sunday, and everyone is invited to come enjoy a meal, celebrate Ru, and spend some time with your neighbors!

There will be a piñata and a small bounce house for the kids, so bring the family and come enjoy the afternoon together. 🎈

💛 People Who Make It Happen: Debbie 💛

Every Sunday, there are people who show up early, stay busy, and give their time simply because they believe in what we're building at The People's Table.

Debbie is one of those people.

Debbie has been a regular volunteer with us throughout the summer, helping serve meals, jumping in wherever she's needed, and—just as importantly—spending time getting to know the people who come to The Table.

She's friendly, understanding, helpful, and someone you can count on.

And that's what makes volunteers like Debbie so important.

The People's Table doesn't have a paid staff.

Nobody gets paid to be here.

The roughly dozen people who show up each week are volunteers. They're your neighbors. They're people who could be doing something else with their Sunday afternoon, but they choose to spend it helping build a stronger community.

They aren't here to look down on anyone.

They're not here to tell people what to do.

They're here because they care.

They serve the food, help make the event happen, talk with our guests, make connections, and help create the welcoming environment that makes The People's Table what it is.

Debbie, thank you for showing up, for being someone our guests can count on, and for giving your time to your community. We're lucky to have you. 💛

And thank you to all of our volunteers who continue to show up week after week.

This is what community looks like.

💛 The Connections We Make Around the Table

Every Sunday at The People's Table, something happens that you can't put on a menu.

People meet.

People talk.

People become friends.

Over the years, Josh and our volunteers have gotten to know so many of the people who come to The Table—often on a first-name basis. We see familiar faces week after week, and sometimes we see someone come by alone and, before long, become part of the group.

That's community.

It's people asking each other how their week went.

It's catching up with someone you haven't seen since last Sunday.

It's meeting someone new and realizing you have more in common than you thought.

It's friendships getting made.

It's neighbors becoming friends.

And sometimes, it's people who started coming to The Table as guests eventually becoming volunteers themselves.

That's why we believe the meal is just how we bring people together.

The real magic happens when we sit down together and take the time to get to know each other.

And you don't have to know anyone before you come.

You don't have to have a certain income, background, housing situation, or reason for being there.

You just have to show up.

We'll welcome you.

🎒🎉 BACK TO SCHOOL FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! 🎉🎒

We want to help spread the word about an awesome community event coming up from two organizations that mean a lot to The People's Table: the Shoreline Lions Club :: Love Community Garden and the Fruitport Lions Club Official!

They're celebrating their 20th Annual Back to School Party, and it's going to be an evening full of fun, food, and community!

The Shoreline Lions and Fruitport Lions have been incredible supporters of The People's Table, and we're so grateful for everything they do to strengthen our community and help make sure people have access to good food and opportunities to connect.

Events like this are part of what makes Muskegon such a special place. When our community comes together, we all get stronger.

If you have kids, bring the family out and enjoy the evening! And even if you don't, everyone is welcome to come out, support the event, and be part of the community.

💛 Our Community Chose The People's Table 💛

Last week, we were incredibly honored to be chosen as the recipient of a $300 donation from Hamburger Mikey!

Hamburger Mikey asked their community to comment and name a charity they would like to see supported, and so many of you named The People's Table.

That means more to us than we can put into words.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to nominate us and show your support. Knowing that our neighbors believe in what we're building is incredibly encouraging.

And a HUGE thank you to Hamburger Mikey for choosing The People's Table and donating $300 to help cover this Sunday's community meal.

This isn't the first time Hamburger Mikey has shown up for our community, either. They recently teamed up with Chef Jeremy Paquin for an incredible Table Take Over, and now they're helping us put another meal on the table.

We are so grateful for the generosity, kindness, and commitment they've shown to Muskegon.

If you haven't already, go give Hamburger Mikey a follow and support a local business that is supporting our community. Businesses that invest in their neighbors deserve our support in return.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families, This Invitation Is for You. 💛

Life gets busy.

Between work, errands, sports, laundry, and everything else that comes with raising a family, sometimes it's nice to take one thing off your to-do list.

This Sunday—and every Sunday—we'd love for you to let us take care of dinner.

The People's Table isn't just for people who are struggling.

This past Sunday, Tiki Boiz stepped up to do a Table Take Over at The People's Table, serving more than 120 Huli Chicken plates to our community.

The food was incredible, the weather was beautiful, and it was another reminder of what can happen when local businesses invest in the people around them.

Thank you to the entire Tiki Boiz team for your generosity, your hard work, and for helping create a Sunday where neighbors could gather, share a meal, and enjoy each other's company.

At The People's Table, the meal is how we bring people together.

What we're really building is a community where everyone belongs.

When a local restaurant or food truck does a Table Take Over, they're doing more than serving a meal—they're setting the stage for people to come together, get to know one another, and build a stronger community.

That's something worth being part of.
