Whatâs the difference? This is a question many of us hear or have even said. Whatâs the difference if you use the plastic bags over the paper? Whatâs the difference if you choose the compostable silverware provided over the plastic? Whatâs the difference if you throw this item in the trash or recycle it? Or if you choose an item made of recycled materials over one that isnât.
While some of you may have read that or hear the same thing and thought, well thereâs a big difference! Or thatâs not even the best option, there are BETTER ones you could choose. Others may agree with the question. Essentially a singular person often can feel as though their choice doesnât make a difference, or one big enough to matter and make change. The thing is one singular person canât make all the change needed. Here is where that little choice, starts to make a bigger change. Say you choose paper of plastic bags for your groceries. Someone else sees you make that choice, and it triggers them to think about their own choice. Maybe it shows them that they have that choice, as quite often the plastic ones are placed so conveniently that you donât even have to think. Maybe as they take their drive home, they start to notice just how many of these plastic bags are in the trees and bushes along the roads. Maybe they even ask you why you made that choice, and you get the chance to explain and spread a little seed of knowledge.
Be the difference, and together we can have a snowball effect, making small differences Be big change.
