Members of the Greater Muskegon Service League (GMSL) spent a 1/2 day completing intensive training to serve as volunteer mentors in United Way’s Early Literacy Mentor Program. Under this highly structured initiative, local elementary schools identify students who need extra reading practice. Trained mentors then work one-on-one with each child for just 15 minutes a day—following a customized reading plan aligned with the school’s curriculum—to build fluency, comprehension and confidence.

It was a busy Saturday for Greater Muskegon Service League!

🍎🫑 We worked with Feeding America to distribute food to 127 households - 342 people, 111 children, 132 seniors, 28 veterans.
We also gave food to the Men’s and Women’s Missions and Joseph’s House.

🎃 Our “Witches on Western” ladies were at the Muskegon Farmers Market Halloween Bash to hand out treats to princesses, super heroes, dragons and other cute little trick-or-treaters!

At the Greater Muskegon Service League, we believe our COLD FEET project can bring positive life change to the community in which we live, play and do business by providing warmth one foot at a time. Our goal is to provide warmth by distributing new cozy socks to those struggling...men, women, and children alike.

If you would like to donate socks for the COLD FEET project, our drop off spots will be available through February 2025. We are collecting for men, women, youth and birth-toddler.
