Updated the little library today and added what we can to the food pantry.

As we shift gears to spring, please note we will be switching the porch stuff around and doing cleaning to change the way it is looking. The goal it to always have things available but try to keep up with what is going on seasonally…

Remember to keep donating and don’t forget that we have an Amazon list that can be used to direct buy. Thank you to all who support this and those who utilize our service 🙂

Keep in mind that it is mostly sorting, cleaning and prepping what has been donating. There may be some light hauling or when we move to the church set up and such.

At Evanston Ave church 1188 Evanston Ave:

Friday December 19: 9-5:30 (event)

Yes my list of volunteers is Helen and I… so for the past week I have had multiple days and times and only 1 person came to help. With a group of over 1.5 thousand people. And over 500 kids on the Christmas list next weekend, this is where we are.

I ABSOLUTELY NEED, you to come help sort and get things prepped. This is not an option, for me. We have so many things to get through and so little time. I know that it can be hard to find time to do these things but please understand that it can’t be done without help.

I HUGE SHOUTOUT TO MY 1 volunteer so far!!!

I wanted to highlight a donation we got the other day.

Hundreds of hand knitted hats! I have already filled the bin with as many that will fit but I want to show case them, not because of the value, the beauty (although so many are gorgeous) but because of the time.

Hand made items take so much time to create and they also take something so simple, YOU! To do it! The person who donated these knew that children and adults need to keep their heads warm and wanted to make sure we could provide that for them. So they brought over their gift to you… that’s what Christmas is about and what our group is all about!!!

Afternoon/Evening, I wanted to let you all know that we have officially launched the sign up for our Annual Christmas Toy Giveaway!

Few things to note before you sign up: you may only be using 1 resource to assist you, although I understand signing up for more than 1 not knowing if you get accepted at different ones. the second thing to note is that we have a 3 year sign up policy, you may use our group for 3 years and then must take 2 years off. 3rd thing is that you need to find a way to give back, monetarily, donating toys back, or volunteering.

We believe that the best way to truly enjoy what is given is to give back in other ways, Christmas is a time to see through humble eyes and to remember that we are a people created for something so much bigger!!

Every year, as we approach decisions with this event, it can be a big debate how to run things and what to tweek, not this year! Thanks to Evanston Avenue Church and the 10+ years of works we have very few changes to add to this event as we step into Christmas! We want to thank places like Toys for....

Restock is happening but a little PSA to tend to:

Someone has removed bins I use to stock items. I realize I have not been out to stock in awhile, however these bins help me organize and see how much or how little I have of something. I pick them out based on the items that go into them.

It may seem insignificant but for the balance of the pantry, these items are important. Please only take items that are allowed.
